"She probably just ran away. Teenagers do this all the time, she'll be back in a few days."
"She didn't run away." I tell the cop. His name tags reads K. Reed. "She wouldn't."
"I can't do anything for ya, kid. I'm sorry." He stands up.
"No, you're not listening to me. She wouldn't run away." I shake my head. "Something's wrong."
He sighs as his hand is on the door handle. "Look, kid. I'm sorry that you got stood up on prom night, that must sting real bad. But there's nothing I can do right now." He twists the handle and pulls the door open. I shove my frustration down and walk out.
"Be careful driving out there. The idiots are out this late."
"Yeah." I mutter before exiting the station. "Thanks for nothing, dick head."
