Jo wasn't in the living room or the kitchen, so I head to my room, expecting her to be asleep since I don't hear any noise.

"Joey?" I step into the room and stop in my tracks.

The bed is unmade, the bathroom light is on. There's two towels discarded on the floor, next to the box of condoms that was in my nightstand. The top drawer of my dresser is open and so are all the drawers in my nightstand.

Next to the TV remote is the pink dildo that belongs to Laura. "Fuck." I mutter, stepping into the bathroom. The shower floor is wet, but nothing else is.

I've been so wrapped up in Josephine that I completely forgot that Laura's stuff was still here.

I pull my phone out of my pocket but quickly realized I don't have Jo's number. I've been with her every waking second, so putting her number in my phone hasn't even crossed my mind.

I take a deep breath.

There's no need to panic, she's an adult who's allowed to leave. I'll give her a few hours before I start making calls.

Six minutes of me pacing my room pass before someone knocks on the door.

I bolt out of my room and down the hall, throwing the door wide open, my brows furrow at who stands in front of me. "Josh?"

My sister, Anna, appears beside him. "Why do you look so panicked?"

"Is she really alive?" Josh asks with a hoarse voice. "Will, tell me it's true."

My chin dips in a single nod. "It's true."

"How- Why- Wha-"

"I know how you feel." I chuckle.

Anna pats my cheek as she steps past me. "You're breathing heavy. Why?"

"Can I see her?"

I swallow slowly. "She's not here right now."

Josh tries to hide his disappointment, but he fails. "Will she be?"

"I don't know where she is, Josh." I shut the door as he steps inside.

"What do you mean?"

"Maybe we should sit down?"

He nods. "That's probably best." He starts walking to the kitchen. "Got any whiskey?"

I chuckle. "Yeah." Reaching into the cupboard above the fridge, I pull the whiskey bottle down and twist off the cap. I pour two glasses and look at Anna with a questioning look.

"I'll pass."

I groan. "Don't tell me you're pregnant already."

She smiles. "Not this time. Glad to see you'd be excited if I was, though." She adds with sarcasm.

"The newest one isn't even a year old yet. Can you blame me?"

"No." She says, taking a seat next to Josh at the island. I slide a glass his way and take a sip from mine. I down the rest of it in seconds and pour myself another.
