I tilt my head at the female voice and familiar name. "Autumn?"

I take off her hood as she's still on her knees, so I can see her face. The first thing I see is the beautiful natural locs and then she looks up through those beautiful lashes and her brown eyes send me into a trance just like yesterday morning.

I lower my gun and help her up and inside my studio checking my surroundings then closed the door. "Autumn what the hell are you doing here? It's 3 in the morning." She keeps her head down as if trying to not show her face.

"Autumn?" I tilt my head to look at her. She goes lower and I use my finger to tilt her head from her chin. And that's when I saw it.
"Autumn what's wrong with your face? Why are you bleeding?" My eyes narrow and eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.

'Her face was glowing and unscathed this afternoon. Why is her face swollen now?'

"I-I uh." She hesitates to tell me and drops her face again.

"Ok. Come here." Knowing she's not going to tell me anything, I grab her hand in hopes she doesn't snatch it away. She doesn't.
I bring her to my kitchen and turn to her. She's still looking down. I pick her up by by her thighs to sit her on the counter.
She doesn't say anything and just continues to look down. I get a towel from my guest bathroom and alcohol and come back to her still sitting down with her head down.

"This is gonna hurt ok?" I tell her to prepare for it. She just nods her head in agreement.
I sigh and tilt her face up to face me so I can see what I'm doing.

Her eyes close in anticipation. "Ow!" She tenses up and tries to push me away.

I immediately blow on the area I rubbed alcohol on to ease the sting. I let out a slight chuckle. "I said it was going to hurt. Just a lil more ok?"

She nods again.

"Verbal assurance please."

Her eyes open and look at me in my eyes. "I understand." She says with a tear flowing out her eye that sends a tight sensation around my heart.

"Ok. Almost done."

Her faces scrunches from the pain but she handles it. I blow on it again. And then tap her thigh to let her know I'm done.

"Thank you."

"Do you have any more bruises?" I asked not being able to with the sweats she has on. She nods and lifts her sweat shirt showing her entire torso covered in scratch marks, fist marks. My blood boils. I hum and nod my head. As I hand her an aspirin and water. I lean against the counter in front of her with my arms folded against my chest as she takes the pills. And just watch her.

"You're looking at me like you want to ask me something." She says and I shrug my shoulders.

"There's nothing to ask,  Autumn. It's perfectly clear what happened." I walk over to her and grab her to let her down off the counter. The height she once had on me from the counter immediately disappears and now she's breaking her neck to look at me. I clear my throat and divert my eyes to the couch. She follows my gaze and walks towards the couch. I go to my linen closet and grab a spare blanket and pillow.

"You have stools."

I walk up to her, handing her bedding. "What?"

She nods her head towards the kitchen island that had 3 stools against it.

I nod and chuckle at the realization that she could've just sat in the stools instead of the counter. "Yeah well it gave me a better view of your face."

She hums. And looks back down.
'Look at me again.'

When I see she's not going to I start to walk away towards my room.
