Faster,
and faster,
and faster,
and faster!
A hasty descent, the wind slamming against my face as my skin was iced and my hair was toyed with.
I spat out a gasp.
What's going on!?
Below me, the ground approached at breakneck speed. As for the details, I didn't have the luxury of picking them apart.
"WHAT THE FUCK!?"
Nearby, my companions dined on the dilemma, both just as rattled as me.
"WHY THE FUCK ARE WE FALLING!?" Selen hollered.
"Was it a setup, after all!?" Pluto barked.
That can't be, I thought. I saw Miss Nina with my own eyes. Miss Yuko clearly needs our help.
For now, I buried the confusion, because if we didn't think of something fast, all three of us were gonna plop into messy piles of meat and bones.
"What are you waiting for, Selen!?" Pluto growled. "Get us out of here!"
"What the fuck do you want me to do about this!?" she barked back.
"You're a dragon, aren't you!? Fly us the hell out of here!"
"For your information, there's more than just your generic dragons, Miss Samurai! I happen to be the 'fast on my feet' kind!" The beast girl pointed at the wings on her head. "This is the best I can do on short notice, and they sure as hell aren't gonna support all our weight, let alone mine!"
The swordswoman clicked her tongue. "So useless!"
"So rude!"
Closer
and closer
and closer.
My end crept into view, despite my objections.
What can we do? There has to be a way out of this.
But no matter how finely I tightened the threads, an idea wouldn't untangle; only a vivid image of my mangled corpse.
"I just want you guys to know," Selen said, "even though we barely just met, I really liked you guys!"
"I think you're a dunce!" Pluto barked.
"Let me have this moment, would you!?"
Imminent impact.
"We're so fu—!"
Poomf!
Impact, indeed.
Sudden, and sooner than I expected.
Softer, too.
Like, really soft, as if I'd been blessed with the universe's comfiest cushion.
Confused, I pressed my fingers into the warm surface, where the tips were greeted with a feather-like texture.
"What just happened?" I heard Selen ask. "Are we dead?"
"To my knowledge, no," Pluto replied. "Although, with how useless you are, I might as well stab you here and now."
I ignored their bickering and sat myself up. Beneath me stretched a canvas of white.
A cloud?
From either side stretched sizable yet elegant wings.
Clouds don't have those.
KroOo! KroOo!
