Lost.

Confused.

Suffocating in disbelief.

Within a mere single frame of time's design, the ghost hunter's world collapsed. Every sound, every smell, every sight, ceased their clockwork, as if every molecule of the universe fell victim to hellacious distortion.

"Violet?" she whispered once more.

The still body shed only silence, a pool of scarlet blossoming beneath. And as those blank eyes stared into Yuko's, she shuddered.

Surprisingly gentle, Ren released her, letting the ghost hunter crumble to the ground.

He then carefully stepped over to his kill.

No grinning.

No laughing.

No mockery.

Only a solemn demeanor as he gazed at the fallen mortal.

"Violet Newcastle," Ren said. "Although I never considered you a true equal, I'll have your name etched into my memories. You were a remarkable opponent, and I'm almost inclined to give you my respect. Almost. At the end of the day, you were just another dog that needed to be put down."

He grabbed the corpse by the hair to drag it to the edge of the rooftop.

"Farewell, my fellow disciple. May your mentor remember you as worthy rather than a disappointment."

He tossed the body off the castle, where it plummeted to the city. As it fell, the sword lodged in its head dissipated.

Ren then turned back to the shell-shocked ghost hunter, his face a plenitude of callousness and brutality.

"Time to join her, Baby Yuko."

The girl couldn't comprehend the reality playing before her.

The devil took a step forward.

Just then, a twitch jolted down his spine, and he instinctively leapt back.

Boom!

Krak!

Where he originally stood, a duo of heavy masses crashed against the castle, causing dust and debris to flutter in every direction.

When the air settled, there stood the dragon and the swordswoman.

They uttered not a single word. Didn't need to. Their expressions hissed every syllable—an ever-seething portrait of animosity and volatile wrath.

In spite of his pensive notes earlier, the demon flashed a nasty smirk.

"It's just one after another with you mutts."
