The house of cards known as my sanity came tumbling down with the faces of my past all now fighting against each other. What was the prize to be claimed for being the victorious one you may ask? It was being able to make their way through my defenses to deliver their own mind numbing torture as they seized my heart. I couldn't even put up a fight even if I wanted to. My body fell sending me to my knees where I once had previously occupied the space beside her.

"Looks like I'm not the only one who suffered from your handy work."

I heard his voice before I could see him. When he did appear he lowered himself down to rest on one knee to the other side of her.

Tomas remained across from me even after I had closed my eyes wishing his presence to leave me be. His gaze bounced between her body to me with a slight mischievous smile creeping up to take permanent residence on his face.

His words make me slip into a deep coma of despair. "Scott, Deluca, Andrew, Miller, Shane and now her." His voice laced with malice. "I don't know, Boss. It's awfully dangerous being your family, isn't it?"

The color drained from my face when words failed to sound from my lips. Left speechless by my pain I felt powerless in my own mind. His hatred continued to pour salt into my open wounds.

"You couldn't even save your sister and yet you still think you'll be able to protect the rest of them?"

I shook my head rapidly fighting to find my voice. "Who's next?" He asked as our eyes met. "Rick? Carl? Or how about that nice piece of ass, Beth was it? She was a nice sight after all that time being locked up."

"What about that daughter of yours?" The anger in my heart couldn't break the chains I felt wrap around me as he spoke their names. But the foul mentioning of Jamie from his mouth snapped me back into a seething rage. "Don't talk about my family."

He only smirked at my snipe knowing he hit a nerve and already planned on how to use it against me.

"She would've been better off with me had I killed you and Rick." He latched onto the one thing he knew got a reaction out of me just to try and pry another one out for his amusement. "I might not be her dad but I still would've had her calling me da—"

The heinous words were cut short as a gunshot rippled through the air. His eyes widened as the bullet penetrated his skull at downward angle. The form of his body had been torn from my vision as my eyes squeezed shut. Seconds later when I opened them Tomas was gone, but from beside where he once kneeled stood Carl. His gun still held out in the air as it cooled from the discharged. His emotionless features were frozen at the sight of his bullet's damage. My eyes scanned down to his target. Within the time I lost myself to the darkness he had put Lori's body to rest permanently.

My voice finds me as the gun shot jerked me from my demons. My brows pull together as self disappointment fills the void. "Carl, you shouldn't have had to—"
