Sweet serenity, or it was until Danny came barging into the cell. Just in the nick of time I was able to pull the blanket up over Beth's waist.
"Nate, Back to the land of barely..."
When his eyes met hers he quickly dropped his head and spun around. "Shit sorry."
Clearing my throat I replied while rubbing the back of my neck out of awkward discomfort. "Sorry, I'll be out in a couple minutes."Danny spoke as he went to turn but paused half way. His head still down but now also his hand now covered the side of his face to make sure he seen nothing else.
"All right. Beth, sorry for... well...I didn't see anything if it helps."His will power was a gift because I could tell he was dying on the inside holding back laughter. However, me not so much. As my slight chuckle escaped I felt her eyes sending me warning signs as she slapped my forearm firmly enough to barely count as one.
"It's fine." She said giving him a forced smile even though he couldn't see it.I turned to see her with bright rosy cheeks as she was dying from embarrassment once he left. She fell backwards letting her head hit the pillow in disbelief. "That's not funny."
"In my defense I said we didn't have much time and you still wanted to be held afterwards." Getting up I began to get dressed. "You're welcome."
"You told me never to thank you for doing the bare minimum." She simply answered with the most genuine feel.
Pulling the shirt down over my head I then ducked beneath the top bunk to reach her. "If I'm not out there soon he'll come back." She leaned up giving my lips a quick peck. "I'll see you in a bit then." Still not over the mortifying moment she threw the sheet up over her face after saying goodbye. I didn't move as I continued to hover. The sheet now being in between me and that beautiful soft skin of hers made me annoyed that I couldn't feel her warmth.
"Come on, Sunshine. I won't be able to go knowing you're in here laying like this. Plus you haven't gotten dressed yet. Do you know all the things running around in my head right now?" My hand rested against her hip giving her a gentle squeeze. She hummed negatively at my words making me roll my eyes. "Could've been worse. Least it wasn't your dad." On that note she began to stir as she pushed my chest to move back. I sat down to put my boots on as I watched her quickly scurry to put her panties back on. I shook my head as I smiled seeing her backside.
"Don't say that. You'll jinx us." She turned back to me after buttoning her denim capris. Beth was about to step towards the curtain when I stood taking her by the arm.
"Hold on. Beth, I love that you came in and woke me up the way you did. But..."
"But you still don't want to be with me anymore." Her frown mixed with the defeat in her voice made my heart ache.
"It's not that I don't want to be." My hands found a way to her body holding her by the waist. Her hands pressed on my chest as she tried to not look upset with me. "Mhm, Would you setting on having just half of me right now?"
