Do you like me...? He asked his horase voice surely hiting every nerve in my body. His intense gaze bore into mine, silently urging me to articulate the thoughts swirling within me. But in that moment, with his arms wrapped securely around my waist and his warm breath tickling my neck, I found myself at a loss for words. How could I express my fears when I was nestled so intimately against him?
"Wait a minute," I blurted out, my fingers instinctively reaching up to comb through his hair. His brows furrowed in confusion as I plucked a stray strand from his scalp. "What happened?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern.
"You have a grey hair," I declared with a mischievous grin, holding it up for his inspection. He winced as I tugged at it, a faint "ouch" escaping his lips.
"See," I insisted, holding the offending hair before him.
A look of exasperation crossed his face as he took the hair from me. "I am aware of my age, you don't have to remind me every time," he grumbled, rubbing his scalp where I had plucked the hair.
I couldn't resist teasing him further. "Well, I guess I'll have to start calling you 'silver fox' now," I teased, unable to suppress a giggle.
"Silver fox"he frowned his brows.
"Yeah" I said pressing my lips in thin line to press my laughter.
His expression softened at my playful jab, and he pulled me closer, wrapping me in a warm embrace. "You know you're so adorable for that, but Aana don't do it again" I giggled at him as he murmured,
Leaning towards me he pressed a kiss to my forehead.
As we shared a playful exchange, I felt a sense of ease wash over me, "It's late I think we should sleep or you'll get late for tomorrow" I told him getting off from him.
"Aana, he called "yeah" I replied as I stepped towards the closet to change "What's your schedule for tomorrow"? He asked calmly as he stood up and walked towards me " Umm...I have no classes tomorrow so it's just office and then home" I spoke as I removed those earrings from my ears he brought for me carefully fully placing it in the box.
"Than how about a date"?, He asked so causally I turned around and looked at him with questioning gaze "I know it's odd and so sudden" he bit his lower lip "I saw what you did just a moment ago" he said.
"What did I do?" I asked completely oblivious about
"You dodged my question, and I know it's not easy for you to say," Avivansh spoke, his voice filled with a mixture of frustration and vulnerability. "How can you even like someone when you've spent so little time with them? And what kind of horrible husband am I? I haven't even taken you on a single date, let alone spend quality time with you. I've been so engrossed in work that I left you a day after our wedding, and our first real conversation didn't happen until six months into our marriage."
I listened to his words, feeling a pang of guilt and confusion wash over me. Before I could respond, I took his hands in mine, his eyes pleading for understanding.
"Vansh, listen to me," I began, but he cut me off, his frustration palpable.
"It is, Aana, it is," he insisted, shaking his head in self-reproach.
Determined to reassure him, I stepped closer, cupping his face in my hands and making him meet my gaze.
"Vansh, listen to me very carefully," I said softly. "This marriage may have been forced upon us, but it's also true that it needed time to process. It was difficult for you just as it was for me. Yes, I had questions when you left that day, but I've come to realize that you needed time too."
I watched as his expression softened, his eyes searching mine for reassurance.
"And as for being a horrible husband," I continued, my voice steady, "let me remind you of the countless times you've comforted me when I've woken up from nightmares, the bookshelf you installed for my books, and the jewelry you've brought for me, especially the one that resonates with your mother. That's not something a horrible husband does."
I saw a flicker of understanding dawn in his eyes, and a sense of relief washed over me as I knew he was beginning to see the truth of our relationship - that despite its unconventional beginnings, it was built on understanding, and mutual respect.
As my words sank in, I could see the tension easing from Avivansh's shoulders, replaced by a glimmer of understanding and relief in his eyes. He reached up to gently grasp my hands, his touch reassuring and warm.
"Aana, I..." he began, his voice soft and filled with emotion. "I'm sorry for doubting us. For doubting you."
I smiled, squeezing his hands gently. "It's okay, Vansh. We're in this together, remember?"
He nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "What kind of penance I have done in my past life to deserve you"
I smiled at his words as he pulled me to needed hug crashing my back while I rested my hand on his back.
Suddenly, Avivansh said "How about I take you on a proper date?"
I couldn't help but laugh at his sudden enthusiasm, feeling a surge of excitement bubble up inside me. " So this all about for a date." He laughed his soft chuckles sending sensations to my spine.
"You are not busy tomorrow" I asked my voice sounded muffed as my face was placed in his chest.
"I am free for you baby always, let's do this let's go on a dates like normal couples" he muttered crassing my hair softly.
Okay'' I replied nuzzling into his chest , I don't know but I can say in all these days this has become to my safe place I feel so comfortable around him in his embrance.
