She builds walls
Brick and Strong
She stares into the blackness
Empty and Alone
No one seems to care
She sits in the dirt
Throwing rocks
Watching the walls getting higher and higher
Trapping her in
No doors
No windows
She sighs heavily
No need to fight it
It is clear there isn't going to be a savior
Someone to break a wall
Letting her free
She has no way out
No Freedom
She knows it's time
She tries her best
Climbing and pushing her way up the wall
Trying to get to the top
Only failing and never making it
No willpower
She used to be me
But I'm trying to change
I'm strong
I climb the wall and lead down a rope
And let her out
She's free
She's happy
She's ready for the world
She stares at the walls willing herself
Never be trapped again
But she knows eventually she will be right back there
And that's why she has me to hold on to her
She's the past
I'm the present
Together we are
The future
