I struggle to the top
Fighting my way
Through the rapid current
Pushing my arms
My legs kick
I grip
I grip at nothing
I want to scream
But I silently make my way
Not showing weakness
I fight
I burst through the surface
I gulp in air
I feel relieved
Suddenly dragged
Back into the depths
The darkness filling my sight
As the water filled my lungs
Drowning in my own pool of despair
I try and reach out for help
No one
