...the sound of the pouring rain was the first thing she heard before opening her eyes.

She glanced out the window to see the sky above blanketed with thick, blackened clouds, almost mistaking it to be nighttime with how dark they were. She could barely make out the environment outside, every day of sunlight blocked by the unforgiving storm cascading over the office building she was in. Even when she approached the window to press her head against the cold glass, everything was far too blurry for her vision from where she was.

        ...where exactly was she?

The building she was in... Where was it...? What is it...?

She backed away from the window to survey her surroundings, taking note of the dim lighting that allowed her to see in the first place. She was standing inside a long hallway that seemed to extend at a rather unnatural length, seeing no sign of any entrance or exit. The walls were a dull creamy color, along with the floor covered with a navy carpeted surface. Yet when she peered up, there was no indication of a ceiling whatsoever, the walls extending infinitely into a void above.

        BZZT!

She gave a slight jolt of alarm at the unexpected buzzing sound that pierced the air. She found herself reaching into her pocket to pull out a silver flip phone that was vibrating in her hand...only to drop the device onto the carpeted floor in shock when she saw what said hand looked like.

It was as if she was made out of darkness itself. Her entire arm was a pitch-black color that glitched erratically in various areas, yet it somehow retained enough form to showcase the shape of her limb. She swiped her gaze back over towards the windows, her reflection exposing that the rest of her appearance was no exception to the enigmatic condition. Her entire figure was nothing more but a shadowy silhouette of a person, the only trait that was visible being a pair of white circular lights apparently serving as her eyes. She could distinctly make out a pair of spectacles worn on her blackened face along with her hairstyle, which seemed to be in a bob cut, but it was difficult to be certain with her cryptic appearance.

...this couldn't be her actual look. This wasn't her at all. She was supposed to look...like...

...what was she supposed to look like again...?

She slowly reached up at her shadowed face, but before her fingers could touch it, the phone she dropped buzzed once more. It slightly jolted on the carpeted floor from its own vibration, as if to emphasize itself to further grab her attention. After casting one last fleeting glance at the reflection of her obscured appearance, she knelt down before the cellular device and gingerly picked it up. Basic movements and sensations seemed to maintain themselves, thus prompting her to conclude that only her appearance was lost to her.
