After Jake's return to school following an extended vacation, the vibrant campus sparkles in a golden glow as the sun rises through the trees. However, Jake's day begins unexpectedly when he discovers he is going to be late. In an attempt to arrive at school on time, he desperately grabs his backpack and any last-minute essentials before running out to the door.

He can hear the distant echoes of the morning announcements and the sounds of students chatting as he gets closer to the familiar school gates. Jake recognizes Calvin, whose loud laughter used to electrify the classroom, and Brian, whose reserved manner hasn't changed since their elementary school days, in the line heading toward the flag ceremony location. A silent acknowledgment of shared memories, they exchange smiles and nods.

But as he steps into the line, Jake's attention moves to Ziah. She is dressed simply but elegantly, and her glasses give her a sophisticated look. She stands with a graceful calmness, her eyes fixed on the flagpole. Jake is moved by admiration for the way the glasses highlight her features and give her understated charm a new dimension.

Jake waves hello to Brian and Calvin and they have a brief conversation, reminiscing about their old school days. Then he looks up into Ziah's eyes and waves, surprised when she gives him a warm smile in return, her normally reserved expression melting for a moment into a moment of mutual connection.

Jake's focus turns to the people he knows as the flag ceremony gets going. His eyes find Nica, whose presence startles him because he assumed she might have changed schools during the break. There is a noticeable void in their group now that Mikey, their former classmate, is no longer with them.

Jake can't get rid of his feelings of longing and nostalgia, even in the middle of the excitement of seeing old friends again and starting a new school year. His school crush, Noelle, who influenced a lot of his memories, is missing. Even in the comfortable routines of school life, change is always present, as her departure throws a shadow over the day.

The flag ceremony ends, and the sound of footsteps fills the air with rhythm, indicating the change from outside solemnity to indoor vibrancy. Even though Jake is usually full of excitement for a new school day, he notices a slight change in his mood as he looks around the classroom for people he knows.

Brian, who has always been a laid-back friend, smiles as he takes a seat, his presence acting as a reassuring buoy in the chaotic waters. Seizing the opportunity to shine a bright light on Noelle's absence, Jake smiles warmly and points to the seat next to him. Ziah looks at Jake with a mixture of curiosity and fear, and after a little hesitation, she hesitantly smiles and accepts his offer.

Jake strikes up a nostalgic and humorous conversation with the three of them as they get settled in, sharing stories of his previous experiences with Brian while also making space for Ziah. But even in the middle of this lively exchange, Ziah stays silent, her thoughts appearing to be lost in the dance of sunlight coming through the classroom windows.

Jake takes the lead because he can see how reserved she is. He turns to face Ziah and asks her a polite question, his voice a calming sound in the busy room. In an encouraging yet sympathetic tone, he asks, "Are you ready to introduce yourself?" like a ray of hope amidst a sea of doubt.

In response, Ziah whispers something inaudibly, her voice heaving with nervousness and expectation. With her fingers making fictitious patterns on the edge of her desk, she admits, "I'm nervous, to be honest," a silent statement of her deepest fears.

Filled with compassion, Jake's eyes meet Ziah's, a silent comfort that she is not alone in her fears. He gives her confidence by speaking in a gentle but firm tone. With a soft push toward confidence, he exclaims, "You can do it!" and his unwavering belief in her ability is evident in his eyes.
