06. The Girl

Sylvia, Minho, Thomas, and Newt walked into the medical house towards the girl. "Jeff, what's going on?" Newt asks. "What's the matter? Why won't she wake up?"

"Hey, man. I got my job the same way you did."

They all stared at the girl. "Well, do you recognize her?" Newt asks in an accusing tone. "No." Thomas shakes his head. "Really? Cause she seems to recognize you" Sylvia adds.

"What about the note?"

"Yeah, we'll worry about the note later" Newt answers. "I think you should worry about it now."

"We've got enough to deal with at the moment."

"He's right Newt. If the box isn't coming back up, how long do you think we can last"

"Let's not jump to conclusions. Listen, when she wakes up, call me over. We find out what she knows." Sylvia replies.

"Somebody's gotta have some bloody answers around here." Newt mutters. "Okay" Thomas quickly walks out the area. "Where are you going?"

"Back out into the maze" Sylvia rolled her eyes before running after Thomas. Minho behind her. "Hey."

"Hey Thomas hey hey come on."

"What is this with you huh? A death wish?" Minho asks. "You just got out now you want back in?" Sylvia adds.

"There's a dead Griever inside that maze and I sure now you guys know exactly where it is. You're telling you're not even a little bit curious?"

"Not really no."

Thomas starts walking again before the two cut him off. "So what's the plan? You gonna go out and dissect that thing all by yourself?"

"I will if I have to. Have the other runners left yet?"

Minho and Sylvia glared at the "runners." "The other runners quit this morning"

"After Alby got stung, they're not in any hurry to get back out there" Sylvia sighs. "Why are you?"

"I think it's time we find out what we're really up against."

Sylvia and Minho share a look. "All right. But you're not going back out there alone. Meet us in the woods in half an hour."

Sylvia and Minho met Thomas in the woods with Winston, Zart, and Frypan. "Will this be enough?"

They ran into the maze with Minho and Sylvia infront. Leading them to the griever. When they got there the griever was smushed entirely. Some of its claws still stuck out.

It looked like even though it was a robot some of its organs still popped out. "That's disgusting" Zart calls out.

"Hey there's something in there"

"You mean besides a griever pancake?"

They all look into the darkness of the wall. There was a red glowing thing. Sylvia walked up to it and stuck her hand inside. "Woah woah woah what are you doing?" Zart asks.

Sylvia didn't respond and felt around. It was gooey. Very gooey. Suddenly Sylvia triggered something and the arm of the griever jumped up. Sylvia jumped back into Thomas and Minho. "I thought you said it was dead."

"Was it a reflex?"

"You hope"

"Okay come on let's try to pull it out." Everyone grabbed ahold of the leg. "Ready, on 3. 1 2 3!"

They all pulled on the leg until it snapped off. Sylvia sprung up and grabbed the red glowing thing. It was inside an organ. "Oh god"

Sylvia snatched the device out of the organ. Making a disgusting sound. She swiped organ goo off her hand. While holding the device in the other. "What the hell is that?"
