Lana Turner had always loved tennis from a young age. Unlike her competitors, she wasn't forced into the sport by her parents or wanted to win a lot of trophies but instead just saw it as something she had fun doing. Her talent was recognized in middle school and since then, she's been winning tournament after tournament.
It wasn't until her freshman year of highschool that she met Tashi Duncan. Lana had just moved across the country due to her father's job and wanted to be apart of her new school's tennis team. Unfortunately, the team was full but seeing Lana's skill, the coach was able to make an exception with the condition that she had to play doubles. Lana didn't have an issue with that but all her past partners were never able to keep up with the fast pace she played at.
"Alright, I'll take you to meet your partner. She's the best player we have and she's already had many top universities reach out to her including Stanford. Tashi, meet Lana. She'll be your new doubles partner this season," said the coach as he lead Lana in front of a tall, brunette haired girl.
"Hey, nice to meet you! I hope we'll have fun playing together this season!" smiled Lana. She wasn't exactly the most outgoing person but was determined to make a good impression on her new partner and hopefully make a friend since she hadn't really gotten to know many people yet.
"Hey, nice to meet you too. You just moved here right? I've seen you play on the West Coast before, you're pretty good. We'll get along fine as long as we're winning," joked Tashi.
Even though Lana had just met her, she felt comfortable around her which was rare. From then on, Tashi took Lana under her wing and the two of them became inseparable. They balanced each other out well, Tashi was straight forwards and outgoing whereas Lana was more shy and caring. The two of them won every single tournament and became the topic of every sports media outlet, but unbeknownst to them, all that was about to change.
