Escape From: The Mayor

It has been a lot of days since our 'saving Alma' mission and honestly I have been locked up in my room ever since. I have been living with Alma and others since then but every morning I wake up, I come out mutter a good morning to everyone there and stay locked up in my room all the time. Something about the Mayor is unsettling and I haven't been able to shake off the feeling of things going wrong. But for the past week after 12 in the noon till 8 in the evening I have been left alone in the room by myself.

Evey day they would leave for training for the final mission before they returned at evening for dinner. For two to three days, Alessia tried making me come too with them but I refused. The time they used to leave was the only time I used to come out of my room and I have nothing else to do there except for watching t.v. I never talked with Collin either despite his five to six messages which only came for a few days before leaving to text me everyday.

I was isolating myself was true but I didn't ask for this. The only person who was talking to me was my sister who was calling from her house where I could have been too instead of this shitty place. Everyday she was asking how was my life over there. And as much as I hated her, I kept my talk short and not over sharing. She used all of her efforts to get an answer out of me but I never did because I hate her. It was already suspicious of her calling out of the blue and then asking about my life like she gave a fuck about it.

But one day I decided to actually get out of my room. 

So when everyone was getting ready to leave for practice and not telling me or bothering to talk with me, I opened my door and went outside and they all shot their heads at my direction. I reached just in time because they were standing at the doorway and ready to leave. I could feel that they were surprised by seeing me finally put of my room and ready for practice. I gave them a shy smile and informed them that I'd be joining them for practice too. They still seemed a bit shook from my sudden appearance but went along with it and told me to come.

The whole way to Zoey's room for practice, everyone treated me normal and ignored the fact that I was isolated from them for three weeks. They were talking with me like nothing ever happened. They told me about how their practice was going and all the progress done so far. And then I was introduced to the two teams formed for the final escape. The safety team who would be focusing on everyone else's safety or of the people in this very building. They had people who were actually experienced in knowing how to treat wound or how to calm someone down in bad times.

The safety team had their members as Alma, Amelia, Zack, Alessia and Zoey. I was also told that Zack had to go to the safety team because of his sister Zoey which wasn't surprising because Zoey would always drag Zack wherever she went most of the time. The attack team were the ones focusing on bringing the mayor and his filthy robots down. The had only four members though. They were Collin, Ethan, Ava and Zaira. And then Alessia tells me that since the attack team has less members, I would be joining them. I was hesitant at first since I wanted something more calming and not so nerve cracking and even asked for and exchange with Zack or something but they said a blunt no.

When we arrived I heard arguing noises and I was sure that it was Zoey and Ethan arguing. I mean they always argued over things like who ate the last packet of chips or who took my glass of water or who stole the t.v remote. Or you could say like am old married couple. I was pretty used to their fighting. When we arrived at the scene, Zoey had a smug smile on her face and Ethan looked really pissed off. Zoey then heard us coming and looked at me and she gave a genuine smile to me and ran over to me.

"Hey Laura! Where you have been?! We missed you all so much." Zoey said said waving her hand at my face.

"Are you sure Zoey? You were to distracted in arguing with me." He said replacing his annoyed face with a smug look.

Zoey still had her smile as she simply turned at punched Ethan hard making him fly to the fall.

"So Laura! What do you want to do? Knife throwing or gun shot at Ethan?" She held out a gun in her left hand and a knife in her right hand and I wondered how did she get her hands on those.

"C-Can I just use a practice board?" I spoke nervously due to Zoey's weapons.

"Oh ok. I guess I'll leave you then and I'll do it alone." Zoey said as she lowered her weapons with a hint of disappointment on her face.

I give a nervous smile as Zoey turns to leave and everyone start filling out of the room to their practice areas too. I see Zack helping Ethan up from the wall as Zoey walks, well more like skips, to them to 'help' Ethan too. And then I spot Collin coming to help Ethan too and my lips curve into a smile.

"Actually Zoey," I said as I eye Collin.

Zoey turns her head from helping Ethan to me and she tilts her head in confusion and I could see that everybody were confused with my sudden talking. 

"I'd like Collin as my practice target" I spoke, still keeping eye contact with Collin and amused with the terror on his face. Though he knows very well I won't hurt him.

I swear I could die laughing with the look on Collin's face. He looked as if he'd seen a ghost. He took one look at me, scared and got up and left ethan to fall in the floor and ran away. After he left the room, I started laughing really loud and Zoey joined in too probably because of seeing Collin's face. It was really hilarious and I was actually happy to have a good laugh after a long time. Maybe things don't have to be so dull all the time. And maybe I don't have to worry on letting anyone down because they know that everyone is not perfect.

And I get to learn and accept that too.

It has been a week since my isolation phase and I have them admit it is better to be hanging out with them rather than being stuck in your room in an endless time loop of eating and then locked in your own room. It is suffocating too after you get out of your isolation phase. You kind of forget that you used to enjoy it and you used to stay in the same room where you spent all of your days. It is hard to accept. Just like how hard it is to accept that we will all be leaving the Mayor's building soon.
