~Chapter 3 - Lies and Deceit~

A girl stood in front of a counter of a store carrying bags of food. She placed them on the counter with a sigh as she let go of the heavy weights. The young man at the cash register looked up from his newspaper.

"Hello," he said in a monotone voice "What can I do for you to...." his voice trailed off as he looked at her. She wore what appeared as a dark blue jumper that had a white strip with golden spiral patterns at the edge of the sleeves. Beneath the jumper, she wore a green striped shirt. Looking down he saw that she wore a white fabric with blue and green stripes in the sides. He looked her face. Her dark brown eyes reflected the room's light. Deep black fringes ran down to just above her chin on both sides of her head. A small shy smile appeared.

"....day?" he finished at last.

"How much would all this be?" she asked sweetly.

"U-u-ummm..." he stammered "Here lemme check..."

He slowly scanned the items, looking up at her occasionally. She seemed to be just his type of girl. the girl took notice this and smiled, as if she came up with a devious plan.

With his face all red, he calmly said "That's a total of sixty two woolies."

The girl looked down disappointed.

“That’s pretty expensive…” she said sadly. Any normal person would instantly tell that she was faking it, but the man was too mesmirised to notice.

“Oh! Well… since you seem pretty nice…” he looked away with a red face, scratching his head “I’ll reduce it to twenty five.”

Her face instantly lit up “Thanks so much, mister!!! Here!”

“Oh it was nothing, really!” he said with a redder face “Anywa-“ his voice trailed off as he saw the girl walking off, only seeing her back as her ponytailed hair blew in the wind. "Awwww….." he sniffed

The girl looked back quickly as she began to run to a lanky man who stood beneath a tree, admiring the peaceful atmosphere. He looked at the girl as she got closer and greeted her.

“Heya! So how was it, Lumina? Did you get the discount?” he said with a mischievous smile.

“Yeah, I got it. But that guy was a total creep! He kept staring at me…” She said sourly, crossing her arms.

“Great!” he smiled.

He looked up at the sky. The wind blew his messy, wavy blonde hair gently. His deep aqua-blue eyes seemed to have lost all connection to the world. His faceless expression made Lumina feel uneasy.

She shook his arm “Hey, Sherbert! Are you ok?”

He snapped out of his little daydream and looked at Lumina again. “Ah yes, sorry. We should head out to Godow City quickly. We must investigate the incident that happened yesterday.”

Lumina nodded and held her hand out. A yellow light shined form her hand and a map appeared. The map showed the whole country. She scanned the map for the place that read ‘Godow City’. A red square that was a little south-west from Godow City indicated that they were in the town of Murca. They estimated that, with the magical boots they wore, the trip would take about half a day.

“We’d better hurry,” Sherbert said as a blue aura quickly emitted from his boots, blowing his hair up “We’re going to have to ask King Eriol about the details.”

Lumina nodded in agreement. A black aura emitted from her boots as well as they sprinted towards the city, fast like a train at maximum speed.
