~Chapter 12: Let's Get Her Back~
After the incident with the king, the medics rushed to their master and carefully scurried to his room, where they laid him down on his royal king-sized bed, gently tucked him in and began examining his condition.
Farron loyally followed them, worry that was slowly turning into fear glistened in his eyes. His breathing had stabilized, but he began having above average temperatures. The medics prompted the butler to exit the room and he obliged with hesitation.
He waited for what seemed like centuries, waiting in a timeless loop that ultimately lead his fear to be engulfed by dread. His mind could not let go of King Eriol, even if the whole castle would crumble, he would not stop thinking about him. Leif... caused this, didn't he? He didn't mean to, but it still happened.
However, he didn't blame him. The king was and still is a very important figure to Leif, despite the tough times the king has given him.
Long ago, when he had first served as butler, he met the child with bright, shining green eyes. Delight always filled that child's eyes, and the king loved him dearly. The child and the princess were always together, inseparable holding hands as they played in the halls. Leif was 5 then, Tetra was 7 and Godow was 14. They always looked cute together, and the city folk always thought they were a couple.
But then two years later, disaster struck, as Leif killed his own mother. Wings sprouted and his hair changed colour. The only way to calm him was the sight of the princess bawling her eyes out. Realizing his crime, he dove into despair, sealing the demon within through sheer will. The king forbid him from the castle and interaction between the two lessened.
With the disappearance of Godow after he sealed Fuyu away and the sudden illness of the king, the princess became lonely. She sat by her window all day every day, waiting for a prince that would never come. Leif sometimes snuck in and stayed with her for a while before getting caught by the guards, but that wasn't enough for her. A hole in her heart began to form, with every day of isolation digging the hole deeper. This year, however, she was permitted to leave the castle for one day to spend with her beloved Leif, only to be taken away to who knows where.
Finally, the sound of a turning knob made his head spin towards the door. He got up immediately and pressed the medic with questions. Is he okay? How is he? Is he dying, is he living, has he already departed? I don't care about the details, damn it, just tell me if he's fine!
More questions were formed in his mind, but he knew not if he said it. The medic raised one hand to him, to tell him to calm down.
"He's fine," the medic replied.
The butler's sigh of relief urged the medic to speak more.
"However, he may die soon. His vitals are low and no form of healing magic can repair him. Nature is just taking course, apparently."
Farron was shocked. Speechless. The king was going to die? Impossible! He has ruled over for so long, the peace is almost overflowing within the country. Why? Why was this happening to him? He wanted to ask more, but his voice was dry.
"As shocked you may be, there is still hope. His vitals are low, yes, however there seems to be a spell that casted on him. It takes form of a faint, fluorescent green, wind and seems to keep air circulating in his lungs. Would you know who casted this spell?"
'Faint, green wind'? he thought to himself. Was it...?
"Mister Farron, sir?"
Following the crowd's obvious path, they eventually reached the point where they stopped. People took refuge inside the broken buildings to hide from the downpour of rain. But yet, there were others running about - mostly men - in the rain for whatever reason. They shielded their heads hands, shirts, or whatever they could hold while at the same time shielding something in their hands that Lumina could not see.
