In a world filled with hostility and malice, some people find it necessary to have bodyguards. But Catherine’s bodyguard is no ordinary protector; he is Rafael, a fallen angel sent to shield her from the arrogant and vile. A year ago, when Catherine’s life took a turn for the worse, Rafael entered her life, and everything changed. Today marks their one-year anniversary—one year of unwavering protection and an unbreakable bond.

At 5 AM, Catherine decided to rise early. As she tiptoed into the living room, she found Rafael absorbed in a book. His eyes lit up when he saw her. “Someone’s up early today!”

“Do you know what day it is???” Catherine exclaimed, her face glowing with joy.

His expression brightened in response. “It’s our anniversary, isn’t it?”

“Yes!!” She squealed with excitement. “I can’t believe it’s been a whole year!” Rafael’s smile widened, filled with warmth. “I can’t wait to see what today brings,” he said, standing and stepping closer, arms open for a hug. Catherine leapt from her bed, enveloping him in her embrace as he wrapped her in his strong arms, along with his magnificent black wings.

“You don’t know how much it means to me when you show me affection,” he murmured, running his fingers through her hair and tilting her head back to meet his gaze.

“So, how should we spend our day?” Her enthusiasm was palpable, radiating from her bright eyes.

“How does a romantic date sound?” he suggested. “I picked a restaurant known for its fresh seafood.” He paused, a sly smile creeping across his face. “But I have a better idea.”

“Oh? What is it?” she asked, curiosity piqued.

Rafael lowered his voice to a teasing rasp. “We can stay here, and I’ll cook dinner for you.” He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. “What do you think?”

“OMG, yes! I’ve always loved your cooking!” she exclaimed, clapping her hands like an excited child. Rafael chuckled, brushing his fingers through her hair. “It’s settled, then. Tonight, we’ll have a romantic dinner here. I’ll even get candles to set the mood.”

Catherine blushed and nodded, a radiant smile illuminating her face. He pulled her in for a tight hug before letting go. “Alright, I need to go grocery shopping for the ingredients. I’ll be back soon to prepare dinner.” He grabbed his jacket and headed out.

Just over an hour later, Rafael returned with two bags filled with various ingredients, dropping them by the entrance before removing his jacket. “Sorry it took so long; I got held up at the store. I’m ready to start cooking! Where are you?”

“Coming!” Catherine called from her room. Moments later, she emerged in her favorite outfit, drawing Rafael’s gaze. He couldn’t help but admire her for a few moments.

“You really make it hard for a man to take his eyes off you with that beauty,” he complimented. Before she could respond, he shook his head, snapping out of his reverie. “Well, I better get started on dinner. Just relax.”

Catherine giggled, a light blush tinting her cheeks. “Oh, stop it, you charmer.” She settled onto the sofa, watching him head into the kitchen. He hummed to himself as he began preparing the meal, cutting vegetables for the side dish. As he worked, a notification from his phone caught his attention—it was a new Instagram story from Catherine. He smiled, continuing to chop and sauté.

Suddenly, Catherine bounced into the kitchen. “Hiiiii, hubbyyyy!! I got bored waiting, so I came to see you!” She giggled, her playful demeanor making Rafael laugh.

“Oh, is that so? Maybe I should take my time cooking then,” he joked, stirring the contents of the pan.

Catherine hugged him from behind. “Mmm! It smells amazing!” Rafael grinned, enjoying her embrace. “Trust me, it’s going to taste even better than it smells.” He finished stirring and set the pan aside, revealing a shrimp dish filled with colorful onions, peppers, and carrots.

“Everything is almost ready!” he said proudly, beaming at her. “YAYYYY!!” she exclaimed, eagerly sitting down at the table, excitement bubbling within her. He took a moment to admire her before placing the food in front of her.

“Dig in, my love,” he urged.

“This is so delicious!” she declared, her mouth full of shrimp and veggies.

“I’m glad you think so,” he replied, watching her relish every bite. “Oh, and I saved the best part for you.” He paused, reaching for a small, wrapped gift and placing it on the table.

Catherine’s curiosity piqued as she looked at the gift. “Hmm?” she asked, glancing up at him.

“Take it. It’s for you,” he encouraged, his smile growing as she carefully unwrapped it. Inside, she found a bracelet of interlinked silver chains with a delicate heart pendant. As she slipped it onto her wrist, she could feel its weight and significance.

“I just thought you’d like it,” Rafael said, his gaze warm and affectionate as he watched her reaction.

Tears welled in Catherine’s eyes. “Awww, Rafa... you didn’t have to!”

His expression softened as he knelt to meet her gaze. “What’s wrong? Did I get it wrong? Do you not like it?”

“Rafa... I don’t just like it; I LOVE IT!” She sprang from her chair and wrapped her arms around him tightly. Rafael was taken aback by her sudden embrace, but a wide smile broke across his face as he held her close.

“I’m glad you like it,” he said softly, ruffling her hair affectionately. In a burst of spontaneity, Catherine pressed her lips against his. Rafael froze for a moment, surprised, before instinctively responding, tightening his grip around her back and drawing her closer.

After a few blissful seconds, he pulled away. “Someone’s being a little too affectionate,” he teased, a playful grin on his lips.

“You’re absolutely CUTEE! I LOVE YOU SM!” she exclaimed, her affection pouring out in a delightful burst.

“And you’re too playful,” he replied, chuckling. Leaning in, he captured her lips in another kiss, this time with more passion. As their mouths met, Rafael’s wings wrapped around her, enveloping them in warmth and intimacy.

When the kiss broke, he held her tightly, their breaths mingling as he looked into her eyes with a soft smile. Catherine lovingly ran her fingers through his hair, prompting him to lean into her touch, eyes fluttering shut. “I love you, Catherine.”

“I love you too.”
