~Your pov~

I hummed to myself as I booted up my computer. I was going to play some Mass Effect on Steam when I heard a knock on the door. It made me think, I was in the woods, and there was nobody around for miles. I grabbed my baseball bat and walked downstairs, then looked at the door. I thought, 'Maybe I'm just hearing things,' and I looked at the door as if it might start talking to me. There was another knock at the door. I opened it and hid behind it, baseball bat in hand, ready for whoever was coming in. As they stepped inside, I swung. They grabbed the bat pretty quickly, and my eyes got big. "Hi," the person said as I looked up at his face, surprised. 'What the hell?' I mentally screamed as I saw a man behind him with the other Dextro. "Garrus, you scared the poor girl," Tali said as I looked at her in shock. "Hi, we're sorry to bother you, but we have no idea where we are," the human said as I tore my gaze from Garrus and looked at him. The human man had on the standard N7 armor with his guns on his back.

"Ma'am?" "Tali asked as I looked at her. I just turned on my heel and walked into the kitchen."I climbed onto the counter to get my bottle of whiskey, then got in the cupboard above the fridge, pulled it out, and climbed off the counter. I debated on a cup but decided against it. Commander Shepard, Tali Zorah Vas'Normandy, and Garrus Vakarian were in my house, and they were real—and they were watching me down half a bottle of whiskey. "Okay!" Shepard then took my bottle and I groaned as I felt a burning sensation in my throat. "Okay! Well, now that's in my system...you know what? You guys are on Earth, but it's not the same Earth that Shepard is from, because on this Earth, you guys are video game characters from a game that I play. Shepard is a female character in my saved data. I know it sounds crazy, but it'll make sense if you hear me out. "You're Garrus Vakarian, codename Archangel. You were originally C-Sec before meeting Shep and joining him on their hunt for Saren." I looked at Garrus and then at Tali, "You're Tali'Zorah vas Normandy, originally Tali'Zorah nar Rayya. You didn't start calling yourself vas Normandy until after the Admirals of the Fleet said you were putting your fleet in danger when your father rebuilt Geth to try and figure out how to stop them because he wanted to build you a house on Rannoch. I said as they all stared at me.

I looked at the whiskey, "Wow, that really kicks in quickly!" I said, "Hey, you didn't mention me."Shepard replied, "I know who you are. You're Commander Shepard of the Alliance military, you're the first human Spectre, and you're also the main character in the three Mass Effect games. I already know who you are."I said, "Can you tell me if we can contact the Normandy?"He asked as I shook my head, "Not unless the Normandy can travel between alternate realities," I said as the team all groaned, "Look, you guys can stay here if you want..." "I don't have any dextro food," I said. "I didn't really expect to run into a Turian or Quarian. I thought you guys were just video game characters." They chuckled. "It's okay. We've got enough rations to last us for a long time. Shepard always makes sure we bring a lot with us, in case we get stranded."Tali said, "That's good." "I don't have any clothes for any of you. Shepard, maybe, depending on if I can find my ex's old clothes he left here." I said, looking at the three of them. My eyes lingered on Garrus for a moment. "I've got some sweats you might be able to fit, Garrus...maybe," I said without looking at him. I was too embarrassed. Now that I knew Garrus was real, it made all those lonely nights I'd thought about him seem kind of awkward.

I showed them all where they'd be staying and got some clothes for Shepard too. I did a quick sweep before heading to bed, just to check their rooms were all set up for the night. When I got to Garrus's room, I gave a soft knock, "C'mon in," his voice came from the other side, so I turned the handle and walked in. "Y/N right?" he asked as he looked at me. I nodded and gave him a warm smile in return. "Do you need anything before I go to bed?" I asked, looking around his room. He thought for a moment before speaking again. "No, but thank you...what are these?" He grabbed a book and looked at it, his eyes twinkling as he smiled. "They're books? Do Turians not have books?" I asked as he shook his head, "I've never seen one before," he said with a smile. "They contain knowledge or they can be used to kill some time," I said with a laugh. He blinked a few times, and I could tell he was trying to wrap his head around it. "Why not just get a data modular?" he asked, putting the book back. I couldn't help but chuckle. "Because we're not there yet in this reality," I told him with a warm smile, which he seemed to appreciate, as he nodded and said, "Hmm..." in a kind, thoughtful tone, and then he trilled.

"What?" he asked as I blinked a few more times, "I have played Mass Effect a million times, and not once have I ever heard the video game you make that sound," I said as he cocked his head slightly, "you made a trilling sound," I told him, "oh! I thought I had done that with my sub-vocals...I'm sorry," he said as I grew more confused, "here..." he sat cross-legged on the bed and pat the place in front of him. I sat across from him with my legs crossed as well. He reached for my hands but I pulled back, "What are you doin'?" I asked as he chuckled, amusement entering his eyes as fast as it left. "Relax Y/n, I'm not gonna hurt you" he softly said as I stared into his eyes, he took my hands and placed both of my index fingers in his throat close to his jaw. His skin felt a bit like hide and leathery at the same time.  We stared at one another as he did this, and then, he purred, I could feel the vibrations through my fingers, "sub-vocals" he whispered as I stared at him, "they're mainly used to warn others off of our mates" he explained as he released my hands, "that's so cool" I said as he chuckled, "we learn almost nothing about Turians from the game, we know that you guys are birds, and you have the largest military fleet in the galaxy and that military is just y'all's thing" I said as he raised an eyebrow plate, "y'all?" he asked.
