Liam

The longer that Alice doesn't contact Liam, the angrier he gets. "Why haven't you called me back?" he texts her. Of course she doesn't answer. He decides to call his mom. "Hey, mom?" he asks, "could you talk me out of doing something stupid?"

"What are you planning on doing?"

"Going over and seeing Alice."

"Don't do that. Come with me to the store."

"Fine!"

"I'm coming over. Don't do anything stupid!"

He sighs and sits down on the couch, waiting for his mother. Eventually she arrives and they head to the grocery store. "What are we getting?" he asks.

"Here's a list." She hands him a list of food items.

He sighs again, following his mom through the grocery store until he sees Alice with another woman who looks very similar to her. "Mom?" he whispers, "Is that Alice?"

His mother turns and looks at the two women her son is referring to. "Yes, it seems like it is."

"Who is that woman with her?"

"I've been told that's her older sister, Ember."

He looks worried. "Alice looks sick."

"Still?"

"What do you mean still?" His mind suddenly makes a connection to his mother's comment. "Wait, you mean she didn't look well when you went to check on her? Why didn't you tell me?"

She sighs. "Liam, if I'd told you, you would've gone over there and made everything worse than it already is."

"I'm going to go talk to her."

"Suit yourself."

He walks over to Alice and her sister. "A...Alice?" he whispers.

She jumps, startled by him. "L...Liam?" she responds softly.

"You...you haven't been answering my calls and texts."

"I....I..."

"Alice, that phone call you overheard...it's not what you think. I mean it was my ex-girlfriend, but she only wanted to meet up to catch up. I told her about you and she wants to meet you."

"W...why would you want to catch up with an ex-girlfriend?"

He sighs. "Alice, she and I have a long history before we dated. We were very close to each other, best friends even. We needed time apart after our break-up, she and I only recently just started talking again. I swear I didn't cheat on you."

"Why'd you break up with her?"

"She...she realized that she isn't into guys."

"W...what?"

"Alice, she's more likely going to be more attracted to you than me."

"O...oh..."

"Could you turn around so we can talk normally?"

"N...no! I...I can't!"

"Why not?"

"There...I..." She looks anxiously at her sister.

He looks at her suspiciously. "Alice, what are you hiding from me?"

"N...nothing! It's nothing!"

"Nothing, my ass!" He grabs onto her, forcefully turning her around to face him. She whimpers softly, trying to cover her small, but noticeable baby bump. Confusion crosses his eyes. "Alice, what's going on? Have you gained weight? Why do you look..."
