Ayla watched as Hunter and Shane placed her bags in the room. She scanned around the room, looking at the bags that were stacked aside, checking if everything she brought was here and smiled when she was satisfied.

"That should be just it" Hunter said. Ayla didn't waste any time as she hurried to her father, throwing herself onto him. Hunter who was taken aback by her sudden move could only pull a sigh of relief when he caught her in his arms. He wrapped his arms below her bottom, supporting her weight as she clung to him like a sloth on a tree. He couldn't help but smile as he felt her bury her face deeper into his neck, holding tight onto him.

"I'm gonna miss you, daddy" Ayla said.

"So am I, honey. We all will" Hunter whispered. He freed one hand and went to caress the back of her head, patting her.

It has been a week since her birthday party and it was her mid semester break. Shawn and Hunter figured that Ayla should spend her holidays with her real parents and try form a bond with them. Things have been really awkward among the group lately. They figured it was best if Ayla could get to know more of her family and fix things. She has one week with Shawn and Rebecca, and another week with Darcy, Lachlan and Caryll.

Stephanie is flying back with Shane, along with Aurora. Vince has ordered Stephanie to reduce her flying since she was pregnant. It was the best idea that Stephanie lives with her brother since there wouldn't be anyone to take care of her at their own house.

Hunter is gonna be on the road more often hereafter. It kills him to be away from his family especially at this time, but he didn't have a choice. Duty calls.

Ayla reluctantly let go of Hunter, getting back to her feet. She turned to Shane who waited patiently, welcoming her into a tight hug.

"Take care of mom and Aurora for me" Ayla said.

"Of course, kiddo" Shane said, patting her back.

Shawn and Rebecca walked in, Cheyenne following close behind.

Hunter turned to meet Shawn's eyes. Nothing much has been said ever since they first knew about Ayla's paternity. They haven't spoken to each other a lot, other than formal stuffs like when to bring Ayla and about her birthday party last week. Otherwise, things have been really awkward between the two best friends. In the span of over 25 years of friendship, never has their friendship been this sour. They always had a way to celebrate and be goofy with each other. Even they both can't stand the fall out between themselves.

"Shawn" Hunter nodded.

"Hunter" Shawn nodded.

Rebecca shook her head at the two's responses.

Ayla watched as her dad and her uncle walks out of the house. She waved goodbye as they drove out of the driveway, leaving her in her new house with her new family.

She felt a hand on her shoulder, pulling her close to a big and tough body. She didn't need to turn around to see who it was. Who else in this house had a body as hard as a rock other than Shawn?

"Well, sugarplum. I guess its just you and me" Shawn said, a small smile forming at the corner of his lips.

Ayla smiled although her heart was still heavy from knowing that she was far away from her first family, Hunter, Stephanie and Aurora. No matter what, they would always remain her first.

******************************

Ayla watched as Shawn and Rebecca work at the kitchen. They wanted to make the perfect welcome dinner for her and Archer. They didn't let her to help them with it so she decided to watch them and accompany them to talk. Ayla was excited to bond with her new elder sister. She hasn't gotten much time to bond the other day after her birthday party with her new siblings given the turn of events later that evening.
