Life. Something that Venus wanted but can't have. Something just out of reach for him. It just sits there. Taunting him. Laughing at him. When he did have it, he was the happiest he's ever been, only for it to be ripped away for him. As much as he hated to admit it. He envyed Earth. Sure, the earthlings were slowly killing Earth but he still had life. Same with Mars, it wasn't too long ago that the Earthlings had officially colonized him. And that was better than nothing.
Venus let out a groan. He hated feeling this way, but he couldn't help it. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get rid of these feelings. Venus shifted his gaze over to Earth and Mars, who appeared to be discussing something. He was too far away to hear what they were saying, not that he cared anyway.
It was hard to say how long Venus sat in his orbit, drowning in his own thoughts. But at some point, Earth called him over to his orbit. Venus was a but confused but went anyway.
"Did you two need something?" Venus asked, as he walked over, seeming a bit skeptical. Earth and Mars glanced at eacher then looked back over at Venus. "Well..." Mars started "We have some news that you may find exciting" Mars explained with a grin. Venus furrowed his brows. What the hell does that mean? "Yeah, yeah... Just tell me already so I can just go back to my orbit..." Venus replied. Might as well get this over with.
Earth cleared his throat, his radiant blue and green eyes met Venus' hazle ones. "So... You've made it pretty obvious that you want life, so, I—" Venus cut him off, was he really that obvious? "I have not! I don't want those filthy earthlings colonizing my surface, I'd rather crash into the sun!" Venus exclaimed. Though he didn't realize how stupid that sounded. Earth raised a brow and glanced over at Mars, who just shook his head. Earth looked back over at Venus "Cut the crap and let me finish" Earth said.
"As I was saying..." Earth began "The earthlings will be starting a new mission" Earth explained. Venus was puzzled "And what does this have to do with me-?" Venus asked. Earth gave him that familiar, goofy grin.
"The mission is going to be an attempt to colonize you"
Venus blinked. Was he hearing this correctly? Is that even possible? His surface is practically hell itself, so how would that even work? Was he dreaming? Venus had so many questions running through his head as he stood there, dumbfounded. Mars chuckled and nudged Earth's arm "See? I told you he'd be surprised" Mars said with a wide grin. Earth laughed and stepped closer to Venus "Look, before you ask anything, yes, this is real and yes, it's possible"
After a few seconds, Venus finally spoke up "How..." He asked in a slight whisper. "If I remember correctly.." Mars started "There's a level in your atmosphere which has the right conditions. And to colonize you, the earthlings will have to build airships or something like that so they can actually live there" Mars explained. Venus literally had to keep himself from jumping up and down from excitement. He was still processing everything he was hearing, but he was obviously thrilled about this.
Venus ran up to the two and hugged tightly "THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU" Venus exclaimed. Earth and Mars laughed at hugged him back.
Even if Earth was uncomfortable with the idea of his Earthlings leaving him, he had to admit, seeing Venus being so happy like this....
It's worth it...
