Love. Love was a concept foreign to Venus. Sure, he would like to have a significant other but whenever he tried, it just didn't work out. He didn't even know what true love was. But it wasn't this...
Venus thought he finally found someone. Mars. Sure they had their differences, but he loved Mars. He did. His voice. His laugh. His personality. But... Mars didn't feel the same way. Because Mars's love for Venus just... Faded away after a while. Their relationship wasn't full of the love that others were familiar with. It was full of hate and fights. They had a hard time agreeing on certain things. But tonight, Venus's world was about to fall apart. Tonight they were in the middle of a pretty heated fight.
"CAN YOU JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME" Mars snapped as he glared at Venus. But Venus didn't want to hear it. "NO, I'M TIRED OF YOUR BULLSHIT. IF YOU DIDN'T TRULY LOVE ME, THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST END THINGS SOONER" Venus screamed. Mars pinched the bridge of his nose "I honestly don't know why either. I should've never dated you in the first place.." Mars admitted. That right there. That sentence is what confirmed Venus's suspicions. Mars didn't love him. He never did. Venus scoffed "Well if you won't end it, then I will." Venus retorted. Mars eyes widened but was soon placed with an irritated expression "Fine! Go ahead then, see if I care!" He snapped. Venus just rolled his eyes and stormed out of the house, slamming the door shut behind him.
He walked into the driveway and onto the sidewalk. He walked quickly, he didn't know exactly where to go. It was dark out and it was cold. Venus wiped away the tears that started to form but they just kept coming back.
Why didn't Mars love him? Was everything he said a lie? Was everything fake? Was all of it for nothing? Will Venus ever find someone? Will he ever know what true love is?
The thoughts just kept flooding his mind and he desperately tried to push them away but they wouldn't stop. Venus stopped walking and pulled the ring Mars gave him. Mars said he loved him when he gave him this. That was all a lie. Mars didn't. Mars loved someone else... But he's not surprised... It's his fault for being a fool. Venus knew Mars always had a thing for Earth. The reason they were together in the first place was Because Earth was already in a relationship with Mercury. And Venus was just a second option for Mars. Venus was just there to fill the void.
Venus clenched his fist. He gripped the ring tight and threw it "FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE" He yelled as he watched it land in the road somewhere. Venus sat down on the side walked and pulled his knees to his chest. A sob escaped his mouth as he buried his head into his knees. Why couldn't he ever find love? Was there something wrong with him? Why did no one love him? Will he ever know what love truly is?
He continued to sob into his knees and he grabbed a fistful of his hair, hoping to grou f himself. With a shaky hand, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He scrolled through his contacts until he found Earth's core contact (Just so you know, Venus and Earth are twin brothers in my AU :3) Venus hesitated for a moment before pressing the call button.
He brought the phone to his ear. The line ringed a few times before it was cut short by Earth's voice. "Hello?" "Hey..." Venus sniffled. "Are... Are you busy right now..?" Venue asked. Earth fell silent for a moment before responding "No.. Why? Is something wrong?" Earth asked, concerned laced between his words. Venus took a shaky breath "No.. No they're... Can.. Can you come get me..?"
"Alright... Where are you..?"
"Near the park.."
"I'll be there in a few.. Stay put"
It wasn't long until Earth pulled up. Venus glanced up as he saw Earth running towards him. "Venus! Are you okay? What happened?" Earth asked as he sat down next to Venus. Venus looked back down at the ground "A lot did... Mars and I... Things are over between us..." Venus explained, his voice wavering a bit. Earth sighed and pulled him into a hug. Venus didn't resist, he hugged back. "I'm so sorry, Vee..."
Venus sniffled and buried his face into his shoulder.
As soon as Venus got back home that night, he went straight to his room. He honestly didn't want to face anyone again. Especially Mars. Venus laid down on his bed, scrolling on his phone. He could hear voiced outside. He could make out that it was Earth and Mars talking but he couldn't really understand what they were saying. Not that he cared anyway. He set his phone on the night stand and settled under the covers, so he can dream he's somewhat else other than this shithole called reality.
As soon as he got comfortable, someone entered his room. He he groaned and turned over. He was a bit surprised to see Mercury standing with a concerned look on his face. Venus looked at him for a moment and then laid back down on his side, facing the wall.
"Venus...? Are you alright..?" Mercury asked as he looked the bigger one over. "Never better" Venus grumbled. Mercury sighed and closed the door behind him. He walked over to him and sat on the edge of the bed. "Do you wanna talk about it..?" "Does it look like I want to talk?" Venus retroted. "Hey, I was just asking" Mercury explained. Venus just rolled his eyes "Do you need something or are you just going to annoy me the whole night?"
"I just wanted to check on you"
Venus was surprised by the answer "Why...? Because you pity me..?" Venus asked, feeling a bit skeptical. Mercury shook his head "Of course not... Look, I know we never see eye to eye but... I am worried about you..." Mercury admitted as he looked away.
Venus fell silent. "Just... If you ever need to talk, you can talk to me.." Mercury offered. Venus thought about it but before he could say anything, Mercury got up and left his room, closing the door behind him. Mercury was... Surprisingly nice to him? He at least expect Mercury to feel pity for him but he words seem genuine.
Maybe he was over thinking it. Mercury could he lying and was just hiding it well. Venus sighed and closed his eyes so he can try and fall asleep.
But Venus did consider the offer. Maybe it won't hurt too bad to at least try and talk with him..
