CHAPTER4|WYATT FORDThis year has been too much for me. Not being able to spend time with my girlfriend kills me. I miss just being around but it's not just that. It's the fact that my father is back and has arranged a marriage between me and some spoiled bitch. He says if I don't marry her he'll tell Avery all about her or even worse he'll ruin Avery maybe even kill her
I haven't told anyone about it but the situation has me in pieces. Hockey isn't necessarily helping me blow off much steam or stress. It makes me violent. Months ago I almost broke Hale's arm but he didn't take it to heart he noticed how uneasy I was
Everyone is trying to help me, even Jaxon but everytime he asks me what's up I never give him an answer. Currently I am walking through the doors of my fathers house. I drove hours for this just so he wouldn't threaten to hurt my girl. I'd do anything to protect her even if that meant seeing my fathers face everyday
Basically I am going through what Quinn was going through during college except my father is a billionaire not in a mafia. My father has the power to take things away from you but not so much as your life with his own hands. But you can never be so sure what a person is capable of. My father wants me to run his business
I almost refused but the look he gave me made me turn my answer around. Like I said, I want to protect my girlfriend from any harm. Maybe her leaving for a couple of days or even a month will be good. She'll be safe if she has Quinn. Plus I sent a little bodyguard to watch her. And he would blend in perfectly
"Son, I'm glad you made it. Have a seat our guests have been eager to meet you today.",my father gave me a pointed look that warned me not to embarrass him in front of his guest
Taking a seat on the couch I grab a glass before pouring myself some bourbon. That was all the old man drank. Once I take a sip I look around the room and notice a lady and her husband sitting on the couch in front of me. The woman was about my fathers age and the man looked awfully older. But that wasn't what caught my eye
What caught my eye was how close they were when there was so much space on the couch. Either their clingy or someone else is supposed to be here and just as I thought a girl walked in. Her curly hair long and beautiful framed her face
She wore a red dress with red lipstick and you could tell she barely had any makeup on. The color of her hair reminded me of Avery. She has red hair just like Averys but hers was closer to an autumn leaf than a fire. Avery's hair was like fire
"Harper Bridges, this is my son Wyatt Ford. He will be your husband. He will take care of you and tend to help you with anything you need. If he does anything you are to let me know. I will deal with him personally,"he sent a glare my way before looking back at the girl and her family as they all sat on the couch together."You will move in with him immediately and will be married in two weeks. This marriage will be publicly announced also that way business will sky rocket for both of our families."
Publicly?. Now I knew I was getting a wife but I didn't think the entire world would find out. I thought it would stay within these walls. My jaw tightens at the thought of Avery's face when she finds out. She'll hate me for real this time
"I thought this arrangement would stay between us." Harper says looking at her parents and then at my father who couldn't help but grin at her
If I was her I wouldn't have talked to him. He isn't like her parents. Her parents seem like they give her all of their attention and love, where my father only cares for his reputation and money and my mother is always somewhere shopping using all of his money. Our families are complete opposites but I can't nit pick at the way they look because behind closed doors it could be different for her and I'd be lying if I said I didn't wanna know more about Miss.Bridges
"Oh honey, you thought wrong,"my father chuckles before giving me his attention."Why don't you give Miss.Bridges a tour of the garden out back. And maybe get to know each other."
Getting up without a word I look at the girl waiting for her to get up but she doesn't. Her father whispered something in her ear before she got up and followed behind me. I'm glad she listened to him or it wouldn't have been very pleasant to hear my father shouting at someone else's daughter. The garden is my favorite place if I'm honest
"Lovely, I didn't think you of all people would enjoy a garden." she says before taking a seat on the bench that sat in front of a water fountain
I could tell she'd be the type to go inside of it with her clothes on just for the fun of it. Something I'd done plenty of times but it wasn't for the fun of it. It was because I'd hid from my father there. He wouldn't go in it with his designer on so he'd have no choice but to leave me inside until my mother came home to get me
"The garden is a quiet place I find comfort in. The flowers just happen to be here because my mother loves to garden." I explain not wanting to speak anymore
We were simply accompanying one another because we had no choice. Not because I wanted to be around her or get to know her. I don't like her. I don't want her nor do I love her. I love Avery and it will always be me and her. Until death do us part
"What do you do?. I know you're a businessman but what else do you do?. Something tells me you're a sportsman." she interrupts my thoughts
Looking at her I analyze her body language. She was calm and collective. Harper Bridges what do you want from me?. I don't trust her not one bit,"I guess I'll start,I'm a model. I model for a bunch of agency's. I love it of course but I also wish I was just a housewife. So I guess that's where you come in."
And just like that the very thing I wanted to know she told me. A housewife. Stay at home, clean and cook and attend to your husband's needs. No job or anything of that sort. Interesting
"I'm a hockey player. But my father doesn't come to any of my games because he thinks it's a waste of my time."
She gasped."Hockey?! I hate gongshows but I also love to chirp during the games. Don't tell anyone I watch though. If my parents find out they might take all of my cellular devices."
I chuckle at her calling her electronics cellular devices but I'm also perplexed at the same time. Harper is disparate from Avery. I think that's a bad thing on my end. And I thought I'd be able to just make this marriage arrangement a friendship thing so that behind closed doors we were close friends but in public we were a married couple but she may have changed my entire world around and she didn't even know it
Harper Bridges is going to be the reason I deceive my girlfriend and I need to stay away from her so I don't
