Chapter One

"Sofia!!!! You're going to be late for school!!!!! It's 7:30!!!!"

"Coming Momma!!" Sofia yells back down. This kid. Always late. She gets it from me though. Maybe a little from Mark too. Sofia rushes down the stairs and starts to head towards the door.

"Ah ah ah. You're forgetting something, Mija." She turns around and smiles and then kisses me on the cheek. "You're going to Momma's tonight?"

"Yea. Grandma and Grandpa are in town. But I'll be back here on Saturday"

"Ok. Tell them I said hi and have fun. Love you."

"Love you too." My baby girl walks out the front door and gets into her new car. Her birthday was a few days ago and Arizona and I went together and bought her a car. For being divorced, we get along really well. I run upstairs to get dressed. As soon as I walk into my bedroom, Mia stirs in our bed.

"Good morning. Sofia just left for school and I'm about to get ready." I lean down to give her a kiss on her forehead.

"Good morning. I have to get ready for work. Got a big day today. Lots of work to do. I'll probably be home late." Mia says. She is a lawyer so I'm used to her working late. Our busy schedules kinda balance each other out.

"Ok. Should I wait for you for supper or no?"

"Probably not."

"Ok. I'll just ask Mer if she wants grab something at Joes then. I'm gonna jump in the shower. Alone. Without you." I tease. As I get in the shower, I start to think about the time I met Mia. I was walking to my car after a late shift so I was really tired and it was really slippery out. Not paying attention to where my feet where, I slipped on a patch of ice. A girl came running over to me

"Are you ok? I saw you go down"

"Uh yea. Haha. This is really embarrassing" I joke. She reaches down to help me up and as soon as our hands touched, she fell too.

"Now this is embarrassing" she said. We picked ourselves up and regrouped. "Do you wanna grab dinner sometime?"

"Uh sure. Yea. Maybe I can repay for making you fall" I laugh.

"That sounds great" she said with a big smile. And as they say, the rest is history. I jump out of the shower and Mia jumps in right away. I get dressed and go make some coffee and scramble some eggs. Mia comes down the stairs and takes my breath away.

"What?" She notices me staring.

"Nothing. You're just beautiful" I say

"Thanks love. Are you ready? I got my coffee and my eggs and my bag. Let's roll" We walk out to our cars, kiss and them jump in our cars and we are off to work for the rest of the day.
