Arizona's POV:
"You what?"
"I invited her for a game night. What's the big deal?" I explain
"The big deal is that she is your ex-wife." Carly yells from the bathroom. I run in from the bedroom and shut the door. The bathroom is the only place where we can yell and the kids can't hear us.
"Carly. Are you serious? We have been separated for 10 years. She is married and I am married, happily married."
"Then why did you invite her?" Carly says. She puts her earrings in. We were in the middle of getting ready for dinner with my parents when I mentioned our plans with Callie and Mia and WWIII started.
"Because she is a friend. She's been with me through a lot and yes we did have a life together but that's in the past. Please. Just try and act nice. It would be over before you know it." She is facing the mirror putting lipstick on. I hug her from behind. "Try" She stands up right and puts her hands over mine.
"I'll...try" she finally agrees. She turns around and gives me a kiss. "Ah crap. My lipstick." I glance in the mirror and see that her red lipstick is all over my lips. We both laugh and she redoes her makeup. I slip out of the bathroom and get dressed. We are going to a five star restaurant tonight so I put on my favorite red dress. I go into the bathroom to start doing my hair and makeup.
"Can you check if the babysitter is on her way?" I ask. Carly grabs my phone and walks into the kitchen to call the babysitter. As I finish my last curl, I look into the mirror to see how I look. Pleased with how I look I head down the hallway to the kitchen. As I walk in, Sofia rushes through the door.
"Hi Mama. Sorry I'm late. Jessie need help on her homework so I stayed after. I'm gonna get ready quick" she says as she runs down the hall.
"Be fast. We have to leave in 20 minutes." I yell after her. "Is the babysitter on her way?" I ask Carly.
"Yea. She should be here any second."
After a glass of wine and 18 minutes later, Sofia comes down the hall and the babysitter pulls in the driveway.
"Ok. Ready?" I ask Carly and Sofia.
"Yep" they both answer.
"Tim! Emma!" I yell for the two in the living room. They come running into the living room. "We are leaving. Be good," I give them a kiss on the forehead as the babysitter walks in.
"Sorry I'm late. Traffic." She says
"It's ok. We are leaving right away. We will probably be home around 11ish" Carly says.
"Ok. Shouldn't be a problem." She says. We both smile and I turn to the kids once more.
"Be good. I love you."
"I love you too." They both say in unison. With that, all three of us walk out the door and climb in the car.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We walk into the restaurant and my mom and dad are already there waiting. They wave us over to were they are standing.
"Arizona! Sweetie. Ah it's so glad to see you! I missed you!" My mom says as she wraps me in a hug. I haven't seen my parents since Carly and I got married. It's hard for them to visit because they are getting older.
"Daddy." I say and look at my dad.
"Arizona." He says with a smile and opens his arms. Dad hugs are the best. As I am hugging my dad I hear my mom and Sofia reuniting. Sofia really gets along with Mom. I love it. I let go of my dad and turn around.
"Carly. It's a please to see you." Dad says.
"Same to you, Colonel." She says.
"Give me a hug." He says and embraces Carly. My mom is looking over Sofia, amazed at how much she has grown up.
"I remember when you were so little and we were rehearsing for your Moms' wedding and we were using you as the bouquet because you were so small. Ah how time flies."' My mom rambles. I glance over to Carly and I see she has a look on her face. My mom mentioning Callie struck a nerve.
"Robbins, reservation for 5" the hostess calls.
"That's us" I say and we follow her to our table. Please let this dinner go good. Please. Of course, I am wrong.
