Lan WangJi pulled into the driveway, stopping the car before his house. The ride had been silent, with neither of them acknowledging the other's presence. But as he unbuckled his seatbelt and prepared to exit, his gaze fell upon Wei WuXian, fast asleep. Lan WangJi's movements halted, his attention captivated by the omega's tranquil form.

In the dim light, Wei WuXian's face appeared soft and beautiful, his features relaxed in slumber. Lan WangJi wondered if the resentment and hatred he had glimpsed in those eyes during the wedding were truly genuine. It seemed inconceivable that this delicate, serene-looking omega could harbor such intense emotions. His appearance was deceivingly pure, making Lan WangJi question his initial impressions.

For a moment, Lan WangJi forgot about the forced marriage and the underlying tensions, his focus solely on the peaceful scene before him.

Lan WangJi jolted out of his reverie, irritation flashing across his face as he realized he'd been staring at the omega for too long.

"Hey!"

His voice deliberately harsh, shattering the peaceful atmosphere heartlessly.

Wei WuXian's eyes fluttered open, his gaze unfocused as he slowly came to. He sat up straight, still disoriented from the sudden awakening.

"Sorry about that," he murmured, his voice laced with exhaustion, as he gently rubbed his eyes. He didn't realise when he fell asleep, he was really exhausted from the beginning of the day and marrying with facade was another thing.

Lan WangJi said, "Get out," as he exited the car.

Though his words sounded mean and harsh, Wei WuXian didn't flinch as he didn't notice the tone, his exhaustion was still there.

With a soft click, Wei WuXian unbuckled his seatbelt and followed suit, his movements sluggish. Lan WangJi strode toward the house, his silence a stark contrast to the omega's gentle stumbling behind him. Wei WuXian trailed after Lan WangJi, his eyes half-lidded, his mind foggy with sleep. He moved with the helpless devotion of a lost child, craving only rest and respite from the day's turmoil.

Oblivious to the alpha's simmering emotions, Wei WuXian trailed behind him, lost in his own sleepy haze. But when Lan WangJi abruptly halted his steps, Wei WuXian's sluggish pace didn't allow him to react in time. He stumbled into the alpha's back, his eyes widening in surprise as he took a few hasty steps backward.

Snapped out of his daze, Wei WuXian's cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

"Why-why did you suddenly stop?"

Lan WangJi turned to face him, his gaze and expression as icy as ever. Wei WuXian's heart skipped a beat as he took in the alpha's frosty demeanor. Had he unwittingly provoked Lan WangJi's anger? The omega's instincts screamed at him to tread carefully, as he stood frozen, awaiting the alpha's response.

Lan WangJi's voice came out harsh, his tone biting. "Are you planning to follow me into my room?"

Wei WuXian's eyes fluttered close and open, taken aback by the alpha's icy tone. Follow him into his room? The omega's mind reeled as he glanced around, finally registering their surroundings. They stood in the upstairs corridor, outside a door that likely led to Lan WangJi's room. How had he failed to notice? He hadn't been paying attention, still lost in his sleepy haze.

But Wei WuXian's thoughts faltered, his mind rebelling against the alpha's glacial tone and piercing gaze. He felt a bit offended. He was forced, not the alpha. Why should he, the victim of this forced marriage, be subjected to Lan WangJi's hostility?

The memory of bitter arguments with his father and brother, all because of this union, still lingered, and Wei WuXian's eyes dropped, his heart heavy with the weight of his emotions. It wasn't easy for him to accept this fate, to prioritize the family's interests over his own happiness.
