As the car pulled into the driveway, Wei WuXian stirred awake from his sleep and tried to sit up straight. The grand mansion before him caught his eye, its beauty and scale surpassing the Wei mansion at first glance. The numerous security personnel were also more than he had seen at the Wei mansion. The vast garden in front took his breath away, making the omega's eyes widen in wonder. The decorations of lights were to the point.

A soft whisper escaped his lips, "Wow..."

The alpha glanced at him, his expression unreadable. He didn't say anything as he parked the car and stepped out. Wei WuXian followed, still taking in the breathtaking sight of the entrance, galleries, and corridors as they ventured deeper into the mansion. The maids and guards greeted the alpha with respectful bows, addressing him as "young master" for which Lan WangJi just nodded in response.

Lan WangJi walked beside the Omega whose silver eyes were sparkling. The alpha made sure to glance at him every second, his gaze lingering on him to confirm he didn't disappear.

Lan WangJi turned a corner, revealing a washroom as he opened the door.

"Here, you can freshen up if you're still feeling sleepy,"

Wei WuXian blinked, then touched his face, "Oh, right. Thank you."

A couple of minutes later, Wei WuXian emerged from the bathroom to find Lan WangJi waiting for him. Their eyes met, and Wei WuXian smiled, walking towards him.

"Any issues? Do you feel dizzy?" Lan WangJi asked without a particular tone but his brows were furrowed slightly. "Any pain?"

The Omega frowned, taken aback by abrupt questions, confusion etched on his face. "No... I just took.. a nap. Why would I feel dizzy and pain??"

As he spoke, he watched Lan WangJi's tense expression relax as the alpha shook his head slightly to dismiss the moment without saying anything.

Wei WuXian didn't give it much thought as well, because the alpha had been constantly inquiring about his health since he started staying home.

Wei WuXian had slept through the entire ride, so he didn't notice the alpha's mood. But, earlier, as soon as they bid farewell to Dr. Zhuo, he sensed a subtle change in the alpha, a very subtle and unnoticeable change. Lan WangJi had become unexpectedly quiet, his usual composure replaced by an unsettling stillness.

Wei WuXian hadn't noticed it earlier, but now, as he glanced at the alpha, he could feel the weight of his silence. Though Lan WangJi's expression remained neutral, his quietness was loudly written on his face.

The omega squinted, wondering what had triggered this sudden change.

"Are we heading straight to dinner?"

He asked breaking the silence as they walked again in the same corridor, which he assumed led upstairs.

Lan WangJi glanced at him and responded with a brief hum, "Not yet, we arrived early."

Wei WuXian made an "Oh" of his mouth.

Lan WangJi's inquired again, prompting Wei WuXian to meet his gaze again. "Are you feeling nervous? Anxious?"

Wei WuXian's eyes fluttered closed at the reminder as his mind raced with trepidation. This would be his first encounter with Lan WangJi's illustrious family, whose reputation preceded them. As one of the top five alpha families in power, the Lan clan's influence was formidable — whether in buisness world or power card.

It was only natural to feel apprehensive; Wei WuXian wondered if they would be approachable, or if they would even accept him. What if they embodied the intimidating alpha stereotype he had heard whispers about?
