On the following morning...

Officer Min Yoongi cast a final glance at his reflection in the mirror, adjusting his tie before preparing to leave the room. Despite nearing the age of fifty, his proficiency remained unimpaired. Having retired only four years prior, his application to become an officer in the temporary detective division at the headquarters was expedited and approved overnight.

Ordinarily, government positions mandate retirement at fifty, though one could opt for an additional five years. However, Yoongi never desired this extension, for he had spent his life chasing wealth and now wished to devote his remaining time to his family. Alas, that family was no longer with him.

He may not weep, but he was resolute in avenging his only daughter's death, whether by his own hands or through the law-a decision to be contemplated later.

Descending to the ground floor, he saw his wife sobbing uncontrollably, leaning against the frame of the entrance door.

"Are you frightened?" Yoongi stood before his wife, whose tears flowed freely upon hearing his voice. He understood her worries well and gently compelled her to look at him.

"What is there to worry about?"

"You don't understand the storm raging within me. You've lost our daughter, and now I can't bear to lose you too." Yoongi offered a dry, faint smile upon hearing her anxious voice and tenderly wiped away her tears with his thumb.

"When I was an officer, you'd say the same thing before every operation."

"But now, the situation is entirely different. Why can't you see that?"

"Nothing has changed; everything is as it should be. Don't you want our daughter's murderer to be identified and brought to justice?"

"I do, but look, the same pattern has been followed in the other four murders. And while investigating Michelle's case, Ruyun met a similarly brutal end. Her chest was completely slashed open." Yoongi sighed deeply, placing his palm on her arm to offer comfort as he sensed her growing distress.

"I-I don't want anything to happen to you." She broke down in tears, yet Yoongi maintained his composure and gently stroked her back.

"I understand your concerns, but I must go. Don't worry, I will always take care of myself." With these reassuring words, he kissed her forehead and stepped outside, where a car awaited him, ready to take him to the office under his command.
