I Believe You

Only a week ago, a tornado hit Treasure Town. However, it only started there. From the Town it raged into the forests nearby, destroying the wilderness and the homes of the many wild Pokemon. The tornado struck everyone in the area, putting a pause on so many lives.

And if Reina told anyone about the green and purple bird-like beast flying in the sky, they'd say she was seeing things. She had run away so suddenly, scared to death with the tornado. She was probably just out of it, misremembering what she saw. She simply needed more rest.

That was what they said.

But Reina knew what she saw. She knows that once marill recovers, there's a chance he can vouch for her, too. There's a chance he saw the beast, and the eevee wasn't just going crazy.

Even her dad didn't believe her.

Her dad.

Didn't.

Believe her.

Her dad came as soon as he had heard the news of the tornado. She doesn't think he's left the Guild hospital room except for when he needed the restroom, or to get food. Had he even left the Building since? She didn't know.

She loved her dad so, so much. That's why it hurt even more when he didn't believe her about the beast. She knows that it's what caused the tornado, but even her own father wouldn't believe her.

"You just need more rest, dear." He had said.

"Then you'll remember correctly, I promise you." He had said.

She didn't know what to do. That day, in the rush to get those endangered 'mons to safety, she broke her leg. It was one of the most painful things she's ever experienced, and not just physically. Her brain had been eating at her, telling her she needed to help everyone in rebuilding the town. But the simple truth of it all is that she can't. Her leg was still broken, and if she tried to move on it now, there was a chance it may never fully recover.

Guilt is such a horrible emotion. It washed over her the day she woke up, and it hadn't left her since. The hardworking 'mons of the town had been spending their days rebuilding Treasure Town, yet all she could do was wallow in her own head.

Reina looked around, surprised to see her father wasn't sitting next to her. He must be busy and doing something else. It was a rare sight to see him gone, though.

A knock sounded on the door, and the door opened swiftly after. Reina had expected to see he father standing there at the entrance but to her astonishment, it was Haven.

Haven had been visiting Reina for a while now, every day consistently. Usually, she brought snacks with her, or a cup of water for Reina. She was very appreciative of the eevee, growing closer with her by the day. Close enough that Reina now considered Haven to be one of her friends.

Reina hadn't seen Erin since it happened. She didn't know why, though. Anytime she had asked Haven if she knew why, she would get real awkward and say something along the lines of, "I don't know, I'll talk to him about it later."

She kept saying that, again and again. Reina eventually stopped asking.

So when Erin showed up at her door that day, shyly standing behind Haven, of course, her first instinct was to start crying relentlessly.

Erin immediately dashed forward.

"Reina please, I'm so sorry I promise you I'll never leave you alone like that again, I just--" Erin exclaimed, tears at the corners of his eyes. Haven stood nervously off to the side.

Suddenly, a feeling of resentment burned inside Reina, hating Erin for leaving her like he did. For abandoning her. For not checking on her since it happened, not once, not ever.
