Lee Minho
The study hall was practically empty. Most Students were in afternoon classes across campus. I would usually enjoy the silence that having no class would offer me.
Maybe get some work done, enjoy a coffee, and possibly go on a walk? But too bad I was seated at booth, staring out a window, while my friends annoyed my brain cells away.
"I will be checking my official soulmate once the stream reaches 50k viewers!" An almost animated voice echoes, full of enthusiasm as if that would encourage her goal.
"UGHHHH." Hyunjin sits back in his chair, frustrated by the livestream that was on his phone. "Bro I just wanna know already!"
"Please tell all your friends to get on the stream!" The pretty lady behind the screen says while pointing to the viewer count at the top, the chat on the side flowing with comments in anticipation.
"Yah jiwoo pull up the stream in your own phone," Hyunjin nudged the girl next to him, who was also watching on the same phone with him, almost as invested.
Jiwoo rolls her eyes, "damn your desperate." She comments while pulling her own phone out her purse to add to the viewers on the livestream, "Do you really want this celebrity to say your her soulmate? Bitch it's not gonna be you."
Hyunjin squints at his friend, "I'll have you know I'm already 21!"
"So why are we watching Kim Hari's soulmate livestream? And why have you been watching for like 2 hours already-"
"I'm just a die hard fan!" Hyunjin comes to his own defense, crossing his arms in retaliation, "you just wouldn't understand."
But soon enough the two were intently watching, eyes practically on their invidual phone screens, as the viewers slowly reached the desired 50k, just before falling again and the cycle repeated.
Another few moments go by before Hyunjin suddenly turns to the other side of him, "Minho hyung! Please pull up Kim Hari's stream! If I don't find out who her soulmate is in the next 10 minutes I might just implode."
I stare off at the clock tower outside the window, watching as the minutes ticked by until my afternoon class, where I'd hopefully see jisung.
The boy I had been dying to see.
My mind was running circles through all the possibilities of what could have possibly happened, because I knew this behavior wasn't normal.
We have been friends longer than one can count and we've never cut contact, even when we went to different schools for a couple years. And suddenly, jisung has been acting so distant.
What did I do wrong?
How do I make it up to him?
I need to figure it out soon before my heart shrivels up without his presence.
The excitement I felt to wake up every morning felt so diminished this past week, mainly due to the fact there was no good morning text from my bestfriend.
Am I overreacting?
What happened to the jisung I knew?
One who would write paragraphs, not one word responses.
And the one who-
"Yahhhhh Minho hyung! Listen I need to see this shit right now!" Hyunjin whines, pushing and pulling my shoulder back and forth to get ny attention.
My trance is broken as I look to the boy next to me, "What were you saying?" I ask softly, only making Hyunjin groan louder.
"Get your damn phone out and watch this livestream."
