The Doctor and The Captain - Book One

S1 EP13: The Parting of the Ways Part 1

"You know the Doctor and Captain. You understand them. You will predict their actions." a Dalek says to Rose.

"I don't know! And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you." Rose yells back at the Dalek.

"Predict! Predict! Predict!" the Dalek says moving closer to Rose.

"Tardis detected in flight."

"Launch missiles. Exterminate."

"You can't! The Tardis hasn't got any defences. You're going to kill them."

"You have predicted correctly."

"We've got incoming!" Jack exclaims as the missiles strike the Tardis. "The extrapolator's working. We've got a fully functional forcefield. Try saying that when you're drunk."

"And for my next trick." the Doctor says pulling a lever as the Tardis materialises around Rose and the nearest Dalek.

"Rose get down!" the Captain yells.
"Get down, Rose!"

"Exterminate!" the Dalek fires but misses Rose just before Jack takes out the Dalek with the modified defabricator.

"You did it." Rose says hugging the Doctor as the Captain and Jack give each other a smirk. "Feels like I haven't seen you in years."

"I told you I'd come and get you."

"Never doubted it."

"I did. You all right?"

"Yeah. You?"

"Not bad, been better." the Doctor responds.

"Hey, don't I get a hug?" Jack asks walking over to the two with the Captain.

"Oh, come here!" Rose says.

"I was talking to him." Jack responds as Rose hugs him anyway. "Welcome home."

"Oh, I thought I'd never see you again." Rose says.

"Oh, you were lucky. That was just a one shot wonder." Jack says as they let go, before Rose smiles and hugs the Captain as well. "Drained the gun of all its power supply. Now it's just a piece of junk." Jack continues

"It's good to have you back." the Captain tells her.

"It's good to be back." Rose smiles.

"Patience, my brethren." a voice calls out as the Daleks look at the blue box.

"You said they were extinct. How comes they're alive?" Rose asks as she and the Captain join the Doctor who is inspecting the destroyed Dalek.

"One minute they're the greatest threat in the Universe, the next minute they vanished out of time and space." Jack says.

"They went off to fight a bigger war." the Captain says.

"The Time War." the Doctor adds.

"I thought that was just a legend." Jack admits.

"We were there. The war between the Daleks and the Time Lords, with the whole creation at stake."

"Our people were destroyed, but they took the Daleks with them..."

"I almost thought it was worth it. Now it turns out they died for nothing."

"There's thousands of them now. We could hardly stop one. What're we going to do?" Rose asks concerned.

"No good stood around here chin wagging. Human race, you'd gossip all day. The Daleks have got the answers. Let's go and meet the neighbours." the Doctor says as he and the Captain walk over to the Tardis door.
