One week later.
Your head hangs off the couch as you stare at the wall.
Nayeli is getting ready to go out for ice cream with Suguru, and they invited you, but you just have no energy to do anything today. You want to stay inside and watch movies. You haven't done much at all this week. Nayeli ended up attending the football game alone yesterday since you decided to stay home. It's best you continue studying anyway.
"Are you sure that you're okay?" Nayeli comes into the room and you sit up.
There's a knock on the door and you glance over. "Yeah, I'm good. I think I might be getting sick." You're just not entirely ready to talk about anything yet, you're not even sure how or where to start.
The girl walks over to the door, opening it up to reveal Sukuna. She's surprised to see him, expecting to have seen Suguru instead.
You take notice of him standing there with a bag of food in his hands.
"Oh, hey. I didn't know you were stopping by." Nayeli says and he walks inside and she shuts the door behind him, turning toward you.
"I wanted it to be a surprise." Sukuna's are fixed on you as you sink back into the couch. "Hey." He greets you, his voice low as he approaches you.
You return the greeting with a quiet nod, unsure of what to make of his visit. You don't want him here, yet you don't want to be rude. He did bring food after all.
Nayeli sighs as she watches you sit there in silence for a moment. She knows that something is up with you, but she doesn't want to push. There's another knock at the door and she makes her way over to it, opening to finally see Suguru.
"Hey, my love." He smiles, holding a rose for her.
You watch from a distance. And you're not sure why you feel the way you do, seeing as Suguru leans down and kisses Nayeli proudly. You're happy for them but jealous. And any time you look at him, all you see is his best friend, knowing you two haven't spoken since the night at the pool.
"How are you feeling?" Suguru asks you kindly.
"I'm good, Suguru, thanks. I hope you two have fun and make wise decisions." You say.
They link arms and get ready to head out. "Call me if you need anything!" Nayeli says, hopeful that you'll need her for something.
Once they're gone, you're alone with Sukuna. And it is silent for a bit until he speaks up. "What's been going on with you? You've been rotting away this whole week. I can tell."
You shift uncomfortably. "I really don't want to talk about it."
He nods, understanding. "Okay, that's okay. Are you hungry?"
You're not but say yes anyway.
Sukuna gladly opens up the bag and brings out the food, setting it out. It's pasta. He opens the container and hands it over to you, and you accept it.
Both of you eat in silence, Sukuna noticing that that's what you prefer at the moment.
There's something off about him that you can't quite understand. He's sweet and seems genuine, but there are times that he looks at you that there seems to be much more to it than that. It's like a darkness that hasn't quite revealed itself.
The pasta is good and you realize that you were hungrier than you had thought. And it scares you. Why are you feeling this way? Over some stupid guy?
"Do you wanna go for a walk with me? So I'm not alone." You ask once you've finished up your pasta.
Fresh air seems nice at the moment, and it could help clear some thoughts.
He's more than happy to go with you and together you put the containers in the trash and head out the door, heading downstairs and out of the building.
The sun is dipping lower in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the neighborhood.
You both start walking in silence together and you just take time to look around at things, trying your best to use this time as a distraction.
The breeze makes it feel a lot cooler than it actually is, sending shivers down your spine.
Sukuna sneaks a few glances at you, noticing that you're trying to hide the fact that you're getting cold. And suddenly he comes to a complete stop, slipping off his coat. "Here, take it." He offers, holding it out for you.
You turn slightly. "Sorry."
Taking the coat from him, you put it on and sigh.
He then steps forward, grabbing hold of your chin and lifting it slightly. "Don't be sorry." He says.
You swallow hard, not sure what to think of this interaction with him.
The wind blows, making the fall leaves on the sidewalk dance. And in the corner of your eye, you catch sight of the familiar white hair and you look over, your heart skipping a beat at the sight of him. You turn your head seeing Satoru walking down the pavement, the wind blowing his shaggy hair. He's wearing his sunglasses but he doesn't turn your way, he just keeps walking without a care in the world.
Does he even know that it was you standing there? Of course, he knew.
Sukuna looks over, concerned as to what you are watching and he sees Satoru standing at the end of the sidewalk, pushing the button to walk across. "You ready to go?" He pulls away from you.
Your eyes shift back over to him and you take a step back. "Yeah."
