Rody lay down on his couch with his bike by the door on the ground.
It was a busy day at work, and it may be a busy day for the week. He decides to just go to sleep.
"Well, well, well. Look what we have here!"
Rody hears something in the distance as he wakes up on his couch.Except his couch was in a black room. As he gets up, something taps his shoulder. It was a raindrop. Then it started pouring down rain.
He turned around to see the couch gone, and the rain had stopped. He was in front of Vincent's burning bistro. With his hand up to his ear. Rody put his hand down and stared down at it. Blood, oh it.
Rody waited to wake up or something, but then he stumbled away from the bistro. Suddenly, he started to pour down the rain as he found himself at the fountain that he and Vincent always met up to.
He feels slightly different and looks around the place. No one else is around, and it's pretty foggy.
As he looked around. Everything seemed slightly different and also recognizable. Rody sighs and rubs the back of his neck.
But then waking up on his couch. He feels some cold sweat down his neck and gets up and walks around in his apartment. Rody goes to the bathroom and splashes some cold water on his face. And mutters as he sighs and goes back over to the couch and looks up at the clock. He decides to go to work early.
As he gets ready, he eats some toast and brushes his teeth after finishing eating the toast. He pits on his coat and brushes out his hair.
Putting a small ribbon over where his ear used to be.
Walking outside as a few people walk by in the building hallway. He grabs his bike by the door and goes over to the door to go head out. As he starts pedaling, he yawns and kicks off. Once Rody is off, he speeds by a few people. They are either just going for a morning walk or have early working shifts. Rody sighs and keeps pedaling. Passing by another person on a bike and the newspaper boy. Rody keeps going until he makes it to the Fountain.
He sets his bike by a bench and sits down. It's pretty early anyway. It's not even time for his shift at the restaurant.
People pass by. Ruffling their hair. Some are going through papers. One passes by with a pen behind their ear and one behind the other ear. While also holding a pen in their hand, fidgeting with it.
Rody watches as more and more people pass by until he decides to head to work. Pedaling his bike, he slowly makes it over to Rotton Apple. As he makes it over, he walks in to see Paxton brushing a broom against the floor.
"The managers in the back if you need him."
She mutters and goes back to cleaning. Rody nods and goes to the back and comes back to wipe down the tables.
A few others come in, and the place gets more ready for the day. Someone puts up the small stand for the 4th anniversary.
With Vincent, however.
Vincent was still asleep since it was early in the morning. Even though he always looked tired because of the dark circles under his eyes. Every now and then, he got some good rest. But, well, it was a good rest indeed.
It was raining. Vincent stood in the rain with an umbrella. He felt cold and calm. Yet unsettled. Eventually, it got warmer. Feeling something warm above his umbrella. He looked up and immediately threw it to the ground,
Vincent couldn't move and couldn't talk. Couldn't do anything.
He watched as the rain just ever so slowly turned into small bits of fire. Engulfing the umbrella in flames and his sleeves. Feeling the burning at his hair. And face
Jerking forward in his bed. Staring at the wall and crashing back down on his back, staring at the ceiling. Vince puts his hands over his eyes and takes a moment to take some deep breaths. He gets up finally and goes into the kitchen. Staring out the window above his sink.
He drinks some coffee with some egg and toast. He put his hand through his hair a few times. And then suddenly winced when he touched a spot next to his eye.
It was just a small bruise on the burnt half of his face. He stares at his reflection in the coffee for a while before just continuing with his breakfast.
Back with Rody. He had a busy day ahead of him since every day of the week when it was an anniversary or something for the restaurant. Such as an event or holiday. They would add a limited item to the menu. Only obtainable during the event.
"Rody! Get back to work, quit standing there!"
Rody flinched as he realized he had been staring at the notepad for a moment. He nodded apologetically at his manager and went over to bring some customers to their table.
He scribbled down someone's order and looked back up as the person talked with their friend about their order. Rody jots down their order and goes over to where the cooks were and leaves the small piece of paper at the window. Going back to the front door to bring more customers in.
Later into the day, it's about lunchtime. And it's getting really busy. Rody scrambles through the crowd of people. Bringing people their food and bringing them to their seats. Eventually, the crowd dies down a little bit, but there's still people around.
Vincent stumbles in.
He looks a bit tired as he looks around and waits by the door. Rody eventually makes his way over.
"Welcome to Rotton Apple. How many people are with you today?"
Rody asks, looking at Vincent.
"2. Just me and another person."
Vincent mumbles, and Rody nods."Alrighty then."
After a few minutes, Vincent and his friend order, and Rody brings over their food. Vincent has his arms crossed listening as his friend talked. His friend seemed fidgety with everything. Spinning their finger in the cup and playing with the button on their shirt.
Later, once Vincent was leaving, his friend was waiting outside, and Vincent walked over to Rody.
"What do you want?" Rody asked, and Vincent looked at him.
"Just saying hello." Vincent says and waves as he turns around to leave.Rody watches as he leaves, and the day comes close to an end.
The sun is setting outside, and Rody has a late shift. Until 6:00. He wipes down the windows and looks outside as the sun peers through the corners of the buildings and blind his eyes. Rody looks down and wipes the rest of the windows. He goes to the back and takes the trash out.
"I'm leaving!"
Hans calls and starts opening the front door to leave.
"Take care! Tell your sister I said hi!" The managers say.
"Have a good night!"
Rody calls back, and Hans leaves. As Rody starts to pack up to go home, he notices a small bug. He crushes it with his shoe and heads out.
"I'll be heading out now!" "See you!"Rody walks out, and the sun is almost gone. Rody grabs his bike and starts walking, dragging his bike. Then something grabs him by the shoulder.
"Vince?"
"Rody."
Vincent stares at him with some guilt in his eyes. Rody stares back with confusion.
"Have fun." Vincent mumbles and puts something in Rodys hand. And then running off. Rody stares into the distance where Vincent has run off. Then, he feels something in his hand. Almost like...
Rody throws a piece of lit paper to the ground. He looks down at his hand and sees a burnt mark on his palm.
Rody stares into the distance in disbelief as he uses his other hand to drag his bike.
