Varenya's Pov :

A low groan escaped my lips as consciousness slowly returned, the first thing I felt was the pounding in my head, and the second was regret.

A lot of regrets.

My eyes remained shut for a few seconds as I buried my face deeper into the pillow, praying for another hour of sleep. Unfortunately, the universe seemed determined to punish me for every questionable decision I'd made the previous night.

"Varenya!"

My eyes flew open, I immediately sat upright.

Big mistake.

The room spun violently, forcing me to clutch my head with both hands.

"Ow..." I groaned, squeezing my eyes shut.

Blinking several times, I finally focused my vision and nearly jumped out of my skin.

Standing near the bed was my grandmother.

Hands resting firmly on her hips, with stern expression.

Aura terrifying.

The woman looked fully prepared to drag me downstairs herself if necessary.

"Das minute ke andar neeche aaja." (Come downstairs within ten minutes.) Dadi ordered firmly.

I nodded so fast my neck almost snapped.

"Ji, Dadi." I replied obediently.

Satisfied with my immediate surrender, she gave me one final look before turning around and leaving the room.

The door clicked shut behind her.

I released the breath I hadn't realized I was holding.

"That woman scares me." a voice suddenly spoke from across the room.

I turned.

Tejal was sprawled dramatically across the chair in the corner, looking like she hadn't slept properly all night.

Her hair was a mess, dark circles rested beneath her eyes and her expression screamed suffering.

"I swear," she groaned while glaring at me, "I'm never playing Truth or Dare with you drunk idiots again."

A laugh escaped me despite my headache.

"Oh please,Teju—" I replied dismissively.

"No," she deadpanned immediately.

"You weren't even drinking," I pointed out.

"Exactly!" she snapped dramatically. "And because I wasn't drinking, guess who had to deal with everyone afterward?"

Fair point.

"And don't even get me started on whatever nonsense happened after that dare." she added suspiciously.
