The morning sun poured over the sprawling Singhania estate, painting the marble walls and towering pillars in shades of gold. From the outside, the mansion looked peaceful, almost regal.
Inside, however, it was complete chaos.
Servants hurried through the hallways carrying trays, flower baskets, and puja essentials. Voices overlapped from every direction. Someone was looking for the golden kalash. Someone else had misplaced a box of incense sticks. The decorators were still adjusting the floral arrangements despite being told they were finished half an hour ago.
The annual family puja was always a grand affair, and the Singhanias never did anything halfway.
The massive kitchen had practically transformed into a battlefield.
Cooks moved from one counter to another while assistants carried ingredients back and forth. The aroma of ghee, cardamom, saffron, and freshly prepared sweets filled the air.
At the center of it all stood Chitra.
Unlike the staff running around in panic, she appeared surprisingly calm.
"Careful with that tray."
"No, not there. Keep the laddoos separately."
"Ask them to prepare another batch."
Instructions flowed from her effortlessly as she supervised everything with practiced ease.
Meanwhile, in the main hall, Prachi Singhania looked seconds away from declaring war.
"Where are the fresh marigolds?" she demanded.
A servant froze.
"I specifically asked for fresh flowers."
"They are coming, ma'am."
"They should have been here already."
Before the poor man could have a nervous breakdown, Chitra entered the hall.
"Didi, breathe."
"How am I supposed to breathe when nobody in this house listens to me?" Prachi turned dramatically.
