Varenya's POV :
The laptop rested on my lap as I lazily scrolled through countless job portals. Most of the listings looked repetitive, underwhelming, or demanded five years of experience for an entry-level position.
I sighed dramatically.
"At this point, I think these companies want employees who were born with experience."
Tejal, who was sitting beside me with a TV remote in hand, looked up and i gave a playful smile before adding, "Or maybe they just don't want people like you."
"You wound me." She gasped.
I merely shook my head, hiding a laugh.
Ever since graduation, we've been doing freelance projects and remote work, enough to keep ourselves busy and financially comfortable. But neither of us wanted to stay stuck there forever. We wanted something bigger.
Something stable, something that would actually challenge us.
The thought of earning our own money, building our careers, and creating lives for ourselves was exciting.
I clicked on another listing absentmindedly.
Then i froze, my eyes widened, "No way."
"What happened?" Tejal asked immediately.
I sat upright so fast the laptop nearly slid off my lap, "No fucking way."
"Rena." Tejal finally abandoned the remote.
"What happened?" she repeated, sounding concerned now.
I slowly turned the laptop toward her.
"The Singhania Corporation."
For a moment she simply stared, then her eyes widened too, "No."
"YES."
Both of us immediately leaned closer to the screen.
There it was.
Official.
Verified.
Real.
Three vacancies.
Two positions in the finance department.
One position for the CEO's Personal Assistant.
For a few seconds neither of us spoke.
Then she said, "We're applying."
"Yes, we are."
We looked at each other.
"Oh my God!" Tejal whispered. "Do you realize how impossible it is to get into the Singhania Corporation?"
"I know."
"They barely hire, and Thousands of people are probably applying."
