Varenya's POV:
The four walls echoed with music loud enough to shake the picture frames hanging on the walls. Tejal and I had long forgotten about being graceful. We danced around the living room like complete idiots, singing lyrics we barely knew, laughing so hard that neither of us could breathe properly.
The song came to an end, and at the exact same moment we dramatically threw ourselves onto the couch, panting like we'd just finished a marathon.
"Oh my God..." Tejal wheezed between breaths, clutching her stomach. "I can't believe we actually pulled it off."
A wide smile found its way onto my lips as I stared at the ceiling, "I know."
I still couldn't quite believe it.
The presentation had been a success.
The investors were impressed.
The company had secured exactly what it had hoped for.
And somehow...
I had been a part of it.
"I genuinely thought I'd mess something up," I admitted with a small laugh. "My hands were literally shaking before I walked into that conference room."
Tejal turned towards me, looking almost offended, "Excuse me? Do you even hear yourself?"
I frowned, "What?"
"Rena, you're brilliant." She reached over and flicked my forehead. "You're just too dramatic to admit it."
"Ouch."
"I'm serious." She laughed. "You worked your ass off for that presentation. You deserved every bit of that appreciation."
I smiled softly, "I guess..."
"No 'guess' you earned it." She interrupted.
Warmth spread through my chest, it felt nice hearing someone say it out loud.
Then...
A very familiar smirk appeared on Tejal's face.
Uh-oh, I knew that look.
"So..." she dragged the word unnecessarily long. "...what did Mr. Tall, Dark and Emotionally Constipated CEO think?"
