Varenya'sPOV:
"Madhuuuuu!" I sang, skipping into the house while leaving the door open for Tejal, who was busy tapping away on her phone.
"Oh, look who's back! I thought you had an interview today, but it seems like you both went off for a picnic instead?" Madhu glared, folding her arms with a serious look on her face.
"Come on, Madhu..." I whined softly, glancing at Tejal, who raised an eyebrow as if daring me to explain. I smirked. "I took her on a date," I teased.
"What? A date? And what about the interview?" Madhu huffed, sitting down on the couch with worry etched across her face.
"Relax, Dadi! The interview went great," Tejal announced excitedly.
"And guess what? We both got the jobs!" I finished the sentence.
Madhu's eyes widened before a bright smile spread across her face.
"You did?" she exclaimed, placing a hand over her heart. "My girls got selected?"
"We did," I said, unable to stop smiling.
"See?" Dadi pointed a finger at me knowingly. "Didn't I tell you worrying wouldn't change the result? All those sleepless nights for nothing."
"I was being realistic" I muttered showing her my puppy eyes.
"No, you were overthinking." Dadi chuckled. "But look at you now, getting jobs in India's top company"
She pulled both of us into a hug.
"I'm so proud of you girls. You've worked hard for this. May this be the beginning of many successes."
"Thank you, Dadi," Tejal said, and i couldn't wipe off my bright smiley face.
"And don't forget me when you become important corporate people," Madhu teased.
"Too late," Tejal declared dramatically. "I'm already accepting fan applications."
Dadi burst into laughter while I groaned.
"She's unbearable."
"Whatever!" Tejal shot back.
"And then Madhu, to celebrate, we ordered food and turned it into a ridiculous eating competition."
"Obviously, I won," Tejal announced, throwing her hands in the air as if she had just won an Olympic medal.
I rolled my eyes.
Tejal clutched her chest dramatically before bowing to her imaginary audience.
