- 006, witness: wall of silence. -
BECCA rushed into the hospital, looking around frantically as she held her phone in her hands. She rushed into a room where Smithy standing, frozen. She walked up behind him, her expression softening as she stood next to the man. "Smithy?" the brunette asked in a low voice. "Smithy, what's happened?"
Smithy just looked back at her, his eyes welling up with tears. He just shook his head, feeling his top lip quivering. "I..." seemed to be the only thing that could come out of his mouth, he pointed over at a lifeless Carly, tears just falling down his face.
Becca stood there, her eyes widened as she now looked down at the teenagers corpse, the girls mother sobbing as she cradled her softly. Becca turned her head, staring over at Smithy who had his eyes fixated on the situation infront of them. "Smithy?" Becca spoke softly, holding onto his arm. Smithy just felt himself fall forwards as Becca grabbed the back of his head, pulling him into a tight embrace. "Shh, it's okay..." she reassured him as she comforted him. "There was nothing you could do."
"I failed her, Bex..." Smithy choked as he leant up, wiping his tears with his sleeves. "I promised to look after her and I failed her..." Smithy suddenly left the room, Becca following after.
"You didn't know she was going to be shot." she answered back, following the brunette. "She was just unlucky, but she's in a better place now...you can't change the past, even though I know how hard you want too." she admits as she places her hand on the man's cheek, tilting her head at a 45° angle. Smithy just nodded slowly, still feeling his top lip quivering as Becca attempted to comfort him.
"It just feels Bradley all over again." Smithy slowly admits, pushing his hair back. "I don't wan't to go through that again." he stammers, his expression turning soft.
"I know, I know." Becca nods slowly, pulling Smithy into yet another hug. "I don't wanna go through it again, either."

- next day -Becca just sighed as her and a few other officers stood outside of the mobile unit, she watched on as Nate and Tony practically jumped onto two of the swirling chairs, she couldn't help but laugh - not because it was funny but because of how pathetic it was.
She knew that even if they were to have this mobile unit, it wouldn't stop Smithy from feeling the guilt he felt, and it wouldn't stop her from feeling a source of regret just because of how he was feeling.
"People wouldn't come in here to tell us their cat was up a tree, let alone help with us with a murder investigation" Nate admitted as he swayed back and forth on the chair, to which Becca seemed to agree with.
