Ellabelle looked in the mirror at her own reflection. She was wearing a white dress that she made for herself; one that looked fit for a bride.
Hadley walked over to her, already in her own, sparkly yellow dress. She found it difficult to hide the fact that she was wearing fake wings now that she had put on such a beautiful distraction. "You look amazing, Ella." She said, putting her hands on her hips.
"Thanks.." Ellabelle said, turning away from the mirror. She didn't know why she'd never made herself other dresses. All she had was her cloak and her normal, everyday dress. "You look great, too."
Catra and Lue were done getting changed into their formal outfits, and they came out to look in the mirror. Catra fluffed her afro.
"This is perfect!" Catra exclaimed, getting a glance from every angle.
Lue looked in the mirror, tugging slightly at the ends of his jacket.
Hadley looked at him in awe. He looked so much like Ellabelle; and he looked quite dashing in blue and green. His suit almost matched his eyes perfectly.
"These are perfect, Ellabelle. Thank you." Lue complimented her, a smile on his face.
Ellabelle looked right into his eyes. Their eyes were similar. How had she never noticed before?
"So, when do the festivities begin, then?" Catra asked, twirling around and watching her dress poof out.
"Tonight. Larkdale is making her annual speech right around dinner time." Lue replied. "Then everyone eats and dances and parties. You're gonna love it, Hadley."
Hadley smiled. "It sounds perfect. I can't wait to show off all of our fancy new outfits."
Ellabelle blushed. "You're way too nice."
"You're way too humble. More people need to know about your sewing skills." Hadley replied, poking Ellabelle on her shoulder.
"You could start your own boutique and everything." Catra suggested.
They all changed back into their normal, everyday clothes, and folded their outfits nicely for the upcoming festival.
"Meet us there at 4:30 sharp!" Ellabelle said as Catra and Lue left her house. She gave both of them a hug, but held on extra tight to Lue. It felt as if their hearts were beating at the same pace, like they were connected.
Ellabelle closed the door behind her friends and let out a heavy sigh. "I have no idea how I'm gonna tell him. When do I tell him? What do I say? 'Hey, Lue, did you know that I'm secretly your sister? Well, I just told you, so it's not really a secret anymore, now is it?'" She shook her head with defeat, sitting down at her desk.
"Breathe, Ella. You can tell him tonight. Pull him aside and talk to him, one-on-one, heart to heart." Hadley suggested. "He deserves to know as much as you do."
"Well I know that!" Ellabelle scowled.
"Hey, calm down. It's all gonna-"
"Just... shh! I have to think." Ellabelle replied, cutting Hadley off. Hadley was taken aback; she and Ellabelle had never really had any sort of disagreements. "I'm going out for a bit of fresh air. I'll be back eventually," she added, stepping outside before Hadley had time to argue.
Hadley knew she had to put herself in Ellabelle's shoes. She'd been through more than Hadley could ever comprehend, and everything was finally catching up to her. The effects of that weight being on her shoulders for so many years were substantially difficult.
For some odd reason, Hadley started blaming herself. She kicked the nearest wall, then turned and looked at Bartholomew.
"I just want to help her," she sighed, balling up her fists. Anger was prevalent in her voice. "I won't ever understand everything she's gone through, I know I won't, but she's being so... stubborn!"
