Ch 9

(AJ's Pov)

Sitting underneath the bleachers I sniffle crying pitifully when I suddenly smell that intoxicating scent of vanilla I soon hearing Minho's voice. "You okay?" I look up and glare at him. "No. I can't believe you guys were going to try to kill each other just for my attention." He sighs and moves underneath the bleachers taking a seat across from me. "I'm sorry. It's an alpha thing." I grumble a little bitterly. "Well it's stupid. I could have handled it in a nice calm manner." I pick at the grass it silent between us my wolf whining and going a little crazy from Minho's scent. Suddenly my chins lifted up so I'm looking into Minho's eyes he saying softly. "We came to a truce okay? Please don't be upset." I'm a little surprised they came to a truce. "How'd that happen? You guys were at each other's throats." He gives me a little smile. "I explained why I was so protective and possessive and he understood." I slowly nod going quiet for a moment before I ask softly. "Minho. Are we mates?" He nods saying softly. "Yeah we are." I frown slightly mumbling a soft "oh." He immediately looks a little hurt. "Are you disappointed to have me as your mate?" I look into his eyes saying softly. "I'm not disappointed I'm scared. Because what if I'm targeted even worse? I know that a lot of girls would do anything to be with you and Euna already showed how crazy it can get." His expression softens a little. "AJ the others and I won't let anything happen to you." I shake my head a little pushing him away emotionally. "No. I can't handle it anymore Minho. The constant hate and harassment from everyone. The abuse. And if I'm with you everything will be a thousand times worse." He frowns looking a little upset. "So what you're just going to give up and let them win? You'd really make yourself miserable to try and please those assholes?" I flinch slightly. "Minho I'm sorry but I have gotten A LOT of death threats just by being your assignment partner. I'd hate to see what happens if they find out we're together." He just stares at me upset a broken look in his eyes. "So that's it. You won't accept me as your mate." I nod pitifully and start to get up I pausing for a second before I place a kiss to his cheek mumbling softly. "I'm sorry." I then climb out from under the bleachers and rush off to my locker.

(Minho's Pov)

Watching AJ walk away I immediately feel multiple emotions like hurt, sadness and anger at the fact that he's being treated like this and threatened just because he wants to be happy. Climbing out from behind the bleachers I head back inside to my locker feeling miserable. "Whoa what happened Minho? Why do you look so miserable?" I look at Hyunjin and the others pitifully. "Well Chan hyung you were right. AJ is my mate." Everyone smiles congratulating me but I hold up a hand halting the congratulations. "But he refuses to accept the bond." They all look at me wide eyed Changbin asking hesitantly. "Why not?" I sigh running a hand through my hair miserably. "Because apparently him just being my assignment partner caused a bunch of problems and people are threatening his life for being around me. He's scared because he says if Euna could willingly destroy his house he'd hate to see what other people would do." They all look sympathetic and in disbelief. "So what are you going to do about the bond?" I grimace at Felix's question I saying honestly. "I have no idea. I guess hope he comes to his senses." They all nod and we part ways heading to our classes.
