The peaceful moment is shattered by a terrifying discovery.

I immediately cross the river kneel down to listen to her breathing. No sign of life. I check her pulse just in case yet all I can feel is my own shaking hands.

What is happening to me? I never shake...

"Does she breathe?" I hear Y/n shouting from the other side of the lake. I quickly put a finger on my lips signaling to her that danger can be around.

I see her nod and she starts dressing up, grabbing her sword.

I keep looking at the girl's body, I feel my nervousness fading away. I have seen death hundreds of times, it's no different.

I get back into my calm soldier mode as I  carefully examine the body.

The air is silent right now, and there is no doubt that she feels a sense of fear and dread.

"We can't leave her here." I tell myself as I grab her at the torso and the legs as I lift her up. She weights nothing just like Y/n... A terrible idea crosses my mind, but I shake it off...

I cross the river back to Y/n, paying attention to the girls body not to get wet. I reach the other shore and stand next to Y/n. I watch as she hold out to me my shoes.

She helps me put them on and we decide to get going immediately.

"Let's take her to the castle. We'll take her to Hange and figure out what happened." She says as she looks at the dead girl in my arms, her words are a mix of determination and uncertainty.

"Where could be the others? Is it possible that... One of us..." She cuts her words off.

I shake my head, and look at her sincerely when I reply. "I don't know. But for now, let's not jump to conclusions. We need to talk to Hange about this."

With the girl in my arms. We start walking towards the castle, following a path and keeping a steady pace.

The whole situation is very stressful, and the look on her face shows anxiety to get to the castle and figure out what happened. She stays silent next to me while she keeps following the path.

I focus on my steps, not to lose much energy while we basically jogging already.

After a long moment of running I feel her slow down.

"Don't get lost, come Y/n. We're almost there." But when I look back I see her gazing back to the path, then to the sides.

I see her grabbing on her swords. It means only one thing.

Next moment I take a step placing the girl down under a tree already hearing the familiar sound of the Titan. I turn back to her to see the creature fall before her legs.

Its neck was professionally cut by her, but then we hear noises coming from all directions.

"Give me the sword and step back." I say, but she shakes her head.

"Take the girl and run."

"I'm not leaving you, not in hell. Give me the sword." I walk up to her forcing her to give them to me, but she shakes her head.

"I got this. You have to carry her, the castle is near."

I feel my anger boil. "You think I'll let you fight the Titans alone, you're dead wrong." I simply grab her arms forcing her to let go causing her pain.

"What do you expect me to do? I'm defenseless like this." She tries to get back the swords.

I start shake, how delusional she is to think she could have a chance against the Titans without proper equipment... We don't have time to waste with arguing yet she's here reasoning. Next moment I feel my hands moving on its own...
