Chapter 9: Movies and Pizza

We were watching the movie when we heard a knock on the door. "That must be the pizza," Amelia said, getting off my lap and getting up while I got up too and we went to the front door. "Hey is this the Smiths' residents" "Yes it is" "Okay here is your pepperoni pizza and a Chicken and Bacon Ranch pizza" "Thank you" Amelia takes the pizzas while I go and grab the money "Okay that will be 15 dollars please" I come up behind Amelia "Do you have change for a 20?" "Umm yes I do" he goes into his fanny pack and pulls out a 5 dollar bill "Here you go hope you have a good night "You too" We close the door and go back into the living room and set the pizzas down on the coffee table "We need to get some drinks what do you want?" I ask getting up from the couch. "What do you have?" "We have water, coke, sweet tea, and some lemonade" "Can I have some Coke" "Yeah sure I'll be right back" I go into the kitchen and get our cokes but when I go back into the living room I see Amelia with half a slice of pizza down her throat "Really you are already eating the pizza you couldn't wait a minute," I say putting our cokes down on the table.

"I was hungry" Is all Amelia could say with half a pizza still in her mouth. All I could do was laugh and she hit my arm with her hand "Okay well let's just get back to the movie and enjoy our pizzas which you have already done I see" Amelia looked at me with a bored expression on her face but with pizza sauce in the corner of her mouth. We continue to watch the movie until it ends and we start the next one and we are just laughing and having a good time until we hear these sorta soft bangs against the side of the house. I get the remote and turn down the volume on the TV "Do you hear that" "Hear what?" "Shhh" I place a finger on her pink lips. We sit still for a minute listening till we hear another bang against the side of the house and some scratching noise behind us. "Do you hear that?" "Yeah it sounds like small bangs on the house but also like small scratching noises behind us," Amelia says getting off the couch to look behind us at the stairs "I didn't even realize there were noises behind us I was too focused on the bangs but you said scratching noises?" "Yes and on the stairs too" Then we hear some heavy breathing that sounds like it's coming from the stairs. We can't see anything because we turned off all the lights. "Do you think we're in a bad horror movie?" Amelia asks, turning to me "Maybe but then again wouldn't we have found my dead father and brother's bodies by now?" "yeah, but we haven't gone up the stairs so we wouldn't have found them" "That is true but still there would have been some way we would have found them by now" "You're right but still if we are in a bad horror movie right now then that means this is real and we could die" "We won't die it could just be the house making noises" Then we hear a soft growl and two big eyes staring at us from the dark staircase "Okay so maybe we are in a bad horror movie" "Run?" Amelia asks looking scared and grabbing my hand "Run" I say turning with Amelia in my hand and we run to the hallway bathroom as we are running we hear this thing jump from the stairs to the floor and start to chase us while breathing heavily.

As we are running Amelia trips over her flats "Damn it Amelia I told you to take them off and why did you have to be a typical white girl falling in horror movies" I yell helping her up to her feet as she stands we are going to start running again but the thing jumped on Amelia and started to lick her face "Oh it's just Bear" Amelia says turning over to give Bear some head scratches as he howls a little I slide down the hallway wall in exhaustion from running all over the house because we forgot where all the rooms were in our scared state "Really Bear you scared us half to death" I say also give him some head pets and ear rubs "Well we know about the scratching noises but what about those small soft banging noises "I don't know and right now I don't really care I have already been scared out of my wits tonight because of Bear lets just tell Alex or Dad to check it out in the morning. "Okay sounds good to me I'll properly pee myself if I go out there I mean I nearly peed myself when I saw Bear's eyes in the dark," Amelia says sitting up properly with Bear on her lap wanting belly rubs.

"Yeah that would not have been good not only because you are wearing a light pink skirt that will most likely stain but because it would have been on the carpet and I don't know how we would be able to explain to my Dad why there is piss on his living room carpet," I say now getting off the floor "Come on let's go back to the movie" I give Amelia my hand and I pull her up while Bear immediately goes to her side, "I think Bear also wants to watch the movie with us," Amelia says smile down at Bear and rubbing his head and kissing him on the forehead if dogs have foreheads that is. "Or he just wants to be near you he is literally in love with you Amelia," I say walking back to the couch with Amelia walking behind me with Bear at her side "He is not he just likes to cuddle and you don't cuddle with him very often," Amelia says springing onto the couch with Bear in tow I sit on the couch next to Amelia and Bear on her lap trying his best to become a lap dog while Amelia takes off her flats and lets them fall to the ground with a small thud. I resume the movie and turn up the volume and we continue to watch until we all three fall asleep on the couch tangled in each other's legs and arms with a dog on top of us laying on his back with his legs spread. It was a really weird night and sleep that we had.
