Dad's Obsession

Chapter 2: Bear

"Well this has been fun but I'm going back to my room and ignoring your guys yelling and loud admonished laughs," Alexander says while going up the stairs toward his room "We do not yell or have admonished laughs" I yell out to him while Amelia laughs while eating her sandwich "Yeah you say that as you yell and she laughs admonish" Alexander yells back "Hey" Amelia yells offended "Don't listen to him his just mad that dad grounded him and took away his phone so now he can't text his girlfriend," I say with a smirk while looking at Amelia who smiles back at me "Hey I heard that" Alexander yells from upstairs "Good and look whos yelling now and being all loud," I say "Whatever," he says while slamming his door shut "aheha" Amelia laughs and so do I but then we hear barking outside "Is your dog Bear outside?" "Damn it Alex" I yell "What do you want now" he yells back "You didn't bring Bear inside the house like you were supposed to" "Oh yeah I forgot sorry," he says casually

"I told him to let Bear inside the house after he gets home," I say while walking to the back door of our kitchen with Amelia behind me having already finished her sandwich. I open the door and see Bear sitting on the back porch he starts howling and barking when he sees Amelia "Hi Bear I've missed you too" Amelia says in a childlike voice at him all the while Bear is waging his tail and licking all over her face "See I told you that you are his favorite" I say with a small smile at the scene in front of me "What no he loves you more than anything he just hasn't seen me in a while" Amelia says smiling with Bear still licking her face "Yeah in a while in which you mean last Tuesday when you came over for movie night and popcorn" I say laughing a little "Yeah a while dog time is faster than human time" Amelia says starting to get up off the floor and away from Bear's drooling face but before she could Bear jumped on her and knocked her back down "Haehae" "Stop laughing and please help me up your dog weights a lot" I decrease my laughter a little and turn to Amelia and smile and say "Are now calling my dog fat I exspected more from you Amelia" after I said that all Amelia could do was look at me with a bored face or was it a 'are you serious right now' I couldn't tell because she is normally always smiling and because Bear was starting to cover her face with his body.

"Alright alright I'll help you to get him off of you" I start to try and pick him up but damn Amelia was right Bear is a little heavy "Go on Bear get in the house" I say putting him down on the floor of the porch, he runs in and goes up the stairs, I turn to Amelia "Here " I give her my hand and she takes it "Why did you want a Newfoundland dog anyway?" Amelia asks dusting herself off "I just wanted a dog Dad's the one who chose him and I only named him really," I say as we enter the house and lock the door behind us "What time does your dad get home because it's starting to get late and the mall closes at 8:30," Amelia says going and sitting down on a stool next to the counter, "I think he gets off at 6:00 but I'm not sure I'll text him and find out" I take out my phone and start to text him. Still, but then I hear a car pull up in the driveway "Speak of the devil" I say as I go to the window and look out. Still, I don't see my dad's car I see my mom's instead "Or don't speak of the devil because It's my mom, not my dad" Amelia comes up behind me and looks out the window too and we see my mom get out of the car and she tries to bring out five boxes with her. "What is she doing here I thought she was on vacation in Florida" "Yeah she is well she is supposed to at least but it doesn't look like it now," I say backing up from the window and head to the front door "But if she is supposed to be in Florida why isn't she?" Amelia asks not too far behind me "I don't know but maybe we'll find out for ourselves" I say unlocking the door.
