The light

It seems I am always working, damn I need a break. Cracking my neck, standing from the desk. While heading to the kitchen my phone rings.

"Bray, have you found anything?" Bray is short for Brandon, he works behind the scenes but, he's also my only friend. He can kind of be a smart ass at times.

"No, of course not master. I called for no reason." He responds in a 'are you dumb' tone. Seems like this is one of those times.

"Okay, ass-wipe. First, I'm not your master. Second, what'd you find." I say trying not to laugh.

Grabbing a cup of coffee, walking into the living room. Finally sitting down and getting comfy.

"I believe there's someone that's been hacking into the security cams in varies locations." He says. I can hear a bit of concern in his voice.

"You have any idea what they're looking for?" I ask, before taking a slow sip my coffee.

"You asking me to look into it?" He's trying to get permission.

"Bray, you don't have to get my approval for everything. Yes look into it." I've had to reassure him so much yet, he always seems to ask.

"Okay, I'll let you know what I find." With that I hang up.

Slumping down in my velvet recliner. Feeling a bit more relaxed. I have seen many horrors of the world. Seeing many women, men, and children die at the hands of vile, disgusting men. Those images are burned into my mind. Always haunting me. Even when we finally save people. Are they able to truly live? With years of therapy, are they still haunted as I am?

Finishing my coffee, I head back into my room. Looking over to my desk, I see a link has popped up. Must be from Bray, sitting down clicking the link. I see a absolutely stunning woman. Her long black hair put into a bun, bright blue eyes staring back at me, and her pale skin shinning as the light from her laptop hits her face. Looking through the link. Bray added that it seems she's looking for someone named 'Ashley'.

Hearing my phone ring, I pick up. "Hey, you get the link?" Hearing Bray's voice knocks me out of my trance.

"Yes, I did. Is there anything other than that, like her location?" I ask, still staring at her. I see every emotion going through her eyes. Worry, disgust, hope, and more importantly determination. I can't take my eyes off her.

"Hello, Owen?" Shaking my head a bit "sorry, what'd you say?" I ask.

"She lives in a small house in Denver, Colorado. I can send you the address if you'd like." He informs.

"Yes I would like that, thanks Bray." Hanging up, I grab a backpack. Grabbing all the necessities like my charger and a few changes of clothes. Changing into a hoodie and a pair of jeans before heading out my door texting Bray to book a flight for me. Hopping in my car, taking off towards the airport. I'm custom to long flights considering it's a big part of my job.

Landing in Colorado, it's been awhile since I've been here. I've missed the amazing views it has to offer.  More importantly the stunning yet, a complete mystery of a woman. Being able to blend into the background is a requirement that will be getting put to use now that I'm here. I have to get Bray to do a background check, he should be able to find something about her, since we already know her address. I'll send him a text.

Walking up to her house. I don't know what I should do. The overwhelming feeling to be honest with her washes over me but, when I saw her in that photo, her determination. I knew waiting was the best idea. I have every intention on helping her, in whatever way she needs. I will be her protection, her savior if need be.
