The Light
After finishing our food and making sure everything is set up correctly, we're ready. Serena looks seemingly terrified. I understand the feeling, considering this might go balls to the walls. Even if it does, I'm well prepared. I will kill every single one of those mother fuckers. I have a feeling that if Ashley's there, they will try everything and anything to stop us from saving her. I understand she's being used as a 'money racket' according to Bray. Although, he also said she's moved around often. It's unlikely she's here.
We're currently in the back of a black SUV. One is also behind us, with 5 trained guards. They're weren't on any other sting operation so, they're our back up.
"Owen?" Serena asks, her voice is low, as if trying not to cry.
"Hey." I say, but she's just staring a me, like she's in a trance, like she's lost in her own mind. Leaning in trying to get her attention. "Hey, What's wrong?" I ask a bit louder then before. Watching her blink a few times, as her teary eyes meet mine.
"I'm fine. I got this." She says, as if reassuring herself. She looks away holding her head up high.
I am pretty sure she just went into badass mode. A small smile appears on her face. I look away, glancing out the window. I have no idea why but, that just amplified everything I feel for her. Even when faced with this situation, her motives have not changed. Glancing back towards her, her expression is cold, she's ready for whatever comes her way.
"Guys, we're around 30 minutes away, double check you're mics." Bray says from the driver seat.
"Okay." I say, checking my mic. Turning towards Serena, as she looks up at me.
"Would you like me to check yours?" I ask, while turning fully towards her.
She just nods, moving her hair to the side, revealing her ear piece. I carefully make sure it's snug in place.
"I need you to speak." I say, turning on my mic.
"We're going to kick some ass." She says firmly. I nod at her, signaling I could hear her. Looking up Bray also nods.
Pulling into a parking lot around 10 minutes away. We get out leaving Bray and all the guards besides 1 named Joe. Hopping into a run down Cadillac, before continuing to the subway 'station'. Finally arriving, I look over to Serena. She looks up at me, her bright blue eyes have a bit of a glimmer. Is she excited? I notice there are 2 men already standing at the entrance.
"You ready to put on a show?" I ask, stepping out of the car. She nods, before tears start wailing up in her eyes. This is going to break me.
I yank her up and out of the car. Resulting in an unexpected scream from her. I have a hold of her arm, squeezing but, not hard enough to actually hurt her.
"NO PLEASE! I'LL BE BET-TER! FOR Y-OU I'LL BE BETTER!" She screams, letting out spurts of sobs in-between, as I practically drag her over to the men. Walking up to them, I yank her beside me.
"Do you ever just shut the fuck up?" I say, looking at her giving a gentle squeeze on her arm. She stops, putting her head down.
"Hello beautiful. I'm Zach." A man in a sleazy suit speaks up.
"Introduce yourself." I say sternly, pulling her in front of the men.
"I - I'm Sa- Sarah. Nice to m-meet you." Her voice breaks as she 'introduces' herself. I should've picked someone else for this mission. My heart feels so heavy with guilt and rage but, I have to keep it together. I will keep it together.
