Daphne knew she should have gone inside to talk to Kiara instead of Pope. However, they boys would probably think it was strange that she would want to go talk to her sworn enemy, so she sat back and said nothing when they decided to let Pope go. "Told you so," she mutters, crossing her arms and letting out a long sigh. "I knew she wouldn't want to come, let's just go without her."
"Yeah, you just know everything don't you?" John B questions, gritting his teeth and gripping onto the steering wheel. "Daphne, I swear if you weren't my sister—"
JJ reaches over and covers John B's mouth with his hand while leaning out of the passenger's window to speak to Pope. "Why not?" he asks, glancing back at his best friend as he lets go of his mouth. "What'd you do to her, John B?"
"Shit." John B hits the steering wheel before he opens up his car door, and begins heading out. "Hang on. I'll deal with it."
"He's such an idiot." Daphne rolls her eyes. "Do I even wanna know what he's done to make her this upset?"
"Doubtful," JJ replies, waving vaguely in the air beside his head. Glancing back, the blond boy gives Daphne a look and tilts his head. "Yo, what happened to that girl you were seeing? The one you were being a sus about and not telling me anything about except that she's super pretty?"
"Don't say 'sus,'" Daphne tells him, crossing her arms and leaning back in her seat. She looks out her window instead of at JJ, worried she may just spill everything to the boy if he looks him directly in the eyes. ". . . I don't know, man. I can't tell if it's going anywhere. I don't know if she actually likes me or only wants to hookup, you know?"
JJ whistles. "Well, just so you know, you deserve someone who wants to be with you."
Shoving him in the back of the head, Daphne smiles. "So do you, knucklehead," she says, trying to sound sincere while also joking around. JJ isn't good at feelings or saying what he's thinking, and it makes Daphne sad to think he doesn't truly believe he deserves love. He's practically her brother and all she wants is for him to be happy. "You just need to stop messing around with tourons and find someone who treats you nice."
