Chapter – 31
Four months later. You're wrong in this, Gianna. I love Antonio, and I don't want him to think I kept things from him.
...
"Why did you hit him, Theo?" I asked with a firm tone with my hands on my hips.
"But, Mama, he started first." I narrowed my eyes.
"He called you coward and that's not the reason to hit someone." Theo pouted and stared at me with his cute puppy eyes, making it impossible to punish him for his behaviour.
"But, mama, he was wrong. I only showed him that I am not a coward."
"You are unbelievable. Maybe Antonio can help you understand. He can..." Before I could finish my sentence, the doorbell rang, signalling that Antonio had arrived.
"Antonio is here. I'll open the door," Theo exclaimed excitedly, running towards it. After a few minutes, they enter the living room, with Antonio carrying Theo in his arms. I looked at them curiously as they whispered amongst themselves.
"What are you both whispering about?" They shrugged their shoulders at the same time. It sometimes scares me when I see their behaviour.
"Antonio, can you tell Theo it's wrong to hit someone just because he called him coward." Antonio looked at me before shifting his attention to Theo, who was giving him cute eyes.
"But, Mi Bella, our Theo is not a coward. That kid should not have called him a coward. He deserved to be hit," my jaw dropped when I heard what he said.
"Antonio, you can't encourage Theo on the matter. This is serious. I don't want him to get involved in a fight. You are already aware of this. It's difficult enough that the teacher began complaining about his pranks, and now this. Instead of making him understand the situation, you are encouraging him. I can't believe you" I spoke with hurt in my voice, making Antonio feel guilty. Antonio placed Theo on his feet before crouching to his height.
"Preziosa, your mama is right. You should not have hit that boy. It is wrong to use violence whenever you feel like it. Yes, he was rude to you at first, but that is not the right reason to hit him. He could have been wounded, and it is not good to hurt others. Even if his remarks upset you, you should be a bigger person and forgive him because you are a nice boy, just like your mama. Aren't you your mama's boy?" Theo promptly nodded his head.
"Then you should be like your Mama. She is caring and loving; she would never hit someone if they had called her a coward, as you did. You have broken your mother's heart with your actions." Theo glanced at me and ran towards me, hugging my waist.
"Sorry, Mama; I will never hit anyone again. I will be a good boy. Please do not be sad. I love you." I smiled and squatted down to reach his height.
"That like my Theo. I know you're a good boy, but don't hit someone from next time, okay?" Theo nodded, and I smiled.
"And mama's loves you too" Theo smiled and hugged me.
"Preziosa," Antonio said as he leaned against the wall, hands on the pockets of his jeans and a smile on his face.
"Hmm," Theo answered, his head buried against my chest, making me laugh at his antics.
"I heard you drew my picture; can I see it?" Theo turned back and smiled at Antonio.
"Yes, I will show you," he said without hesitation before heading upstairs to retrieve his drawing. As soon as Theo was out of sight, Antonio walked towards me and pulled me into his arms, making me sighed with delight.
