Chapter – 34

You have no idea how much danger you put yourself in by being with Sinister. He's going to ruin you.

...

After Antonio left, the next few days were a mess. I'm not sure why, but I began to feel like someone was watching me from a distance, as if they were stalking my every move. Everywhere I go, I feel as if someone is watching me. Right now, I feel as if someone is watching me, creeping me out, but when I turn around to look, there is no one. I rushed to the parking place, carrying groceries bags in both hands. When I got to my car, I quickly placed the grocery bags in the back seat before getting into the driver's seat and heading to my house.

When I entered my house, Matteo, Antonio's brother, was playing with Theo. I expected Matteo to be cold and expressionless, but instead he was playing with Theo with a smile. He's more careless than Antonio. Even though he is the mafia boss, but he does not act like one.

"Mama is here," Theo announced before coming to my side.

"Mama, look what Matteo bought me." I inspected the toys Matteo bought for my son. He's going to spoil my son soon.

"Matteo, you didn't have to," I told him, laying the bags on the kitchen counter.

"But I wanted to." He stated, while ruffling Theo's hair, which caused him to giggle. I shook my head at their behaviour before placing the groceries in their rightful places. After Antonio left, Matteo came over the next day, and he has since begun to look after us, which has made me appreciate him. Even though Antonio is not here to look after us, he has made arrangements to protect us from afar through his brother.

"Don't you have any Mafia business to deal with?" I called out from the kitchen.

"Nope," I rolled my eyes at his one-word response before walking upstairs to freshen up. When I came into my room and was about to enter the bathroom, I noticed something on my bed. I stepped closer to my bed, and my eyes widened as I discovered the photographs on it. Not just any random photographs, but they were of me. There are images of me entering the school, driving out of the school, and even teaching. Some of the pictures showed of me shopping for groceries and taking Theo out. My heart started racing as I looked at all of the photographs. I am sure someone is stalking me, but why? But the important concern is how these photographs arrived up here; it only leads to one conclusion: whoever is stalking might be present, in this room. The abrupt recognition hit me hard, and I couldn't help but think of one specific person who could have been stalking me and from whom I'd been running from for years, and now this person was here, in this room. I am sure he was coming after me and Theo.

...

I sighed again when Antonio's call had been diverted to voicemail yet again. I had been calling him since I received those photographs, but Antonio wasn't answering his calls. Maybe he was busy with something, but I couldn't help but feel frightened about everything. I have a feeling something awful is about to happen, and it will not end well. Maybe I should tell Matteo about this, but I was hesitant since I don't fully trust him, but if Antonio trusts him to protect us, I should trust Antonio's decision as well. And for now, I can only rely on Matteo to keep us safe from my nightmare. I quickly gathered all of the photographs from the bed and went downstairs, where I could hear Matteo and Theo's voices.

"Matteo," as he heard his name, he looked up and cocked an eyebrow at me.

"Do you need something?" I bit my lip in nervousness and gazed down at the photographs. I should tell him. Maybe he could help us in this situation.
